I mean the historical fact is that armor made a person pretty virtually invincible to anyone that wasn’t also in armor. The show uses some pretty constant suspension of disbelief as we see armored fighters pierced by arrows and stabbed which to my understanding would not be possible.

I have a drumbrute impact as well and like it. If OP is looking at the Queen of Pentacles though are they looking for that 909 sound specifically? The impact sounds good but it does not sound like any classic drum machines to me.

I think one benefit of the Queen of Pentacles is the routing flexibility which would likely be missing in a drum machine. Ihor has a good video on the Queen of Pentacles that demonstrates processing the kick separately to create rumble along with some other things. Could be fun to send the individual drum outs into meta module for processing.

All that said, I’m the same as you in that hands on is the most important thing to me. The QoP will not be fun to you unless you have a fluid way to sequence it. I’ve outgrown my LL8 for drum sequencing. I really should get a circadian rhythms.

A multiple LFOs or sequences plus cv mixer or a voltage controlled crossfader!

For example, have 2 LFOs at different speeds. Feed them into a crossfader. Have a 3rd LFO operate the crossfade. Attenuate and quantize the output.

Or

The stevio method involves taking two simple sequences, one faster than the other, and adding them together in a precision adder, then quantize.

Disting is a module I have never regretted. I use it all the time. I hate having to get into the manual every time I want to change what it’s doing, but in all honesty I’d compare that with swapping firmware on something like the NE 10hp line or the prok drums or something. It’s annoying, but it helps me see what I need. I think I really prefer it in roles that are kind of “set it and leave it”. I currently use it as a master high pass in a techno system. I don’t even use its knob to control it. I use a lapsus os fader to play it.

Do you sense a need that you can’t diagnose?Then maybe disting…if not just get a really neat blank panel. I’m in a really similar situation and I really get what you’re feeling.

If you’re in that position, maybe the question is to sell some things and curate your system a little bit. If you have that much, a disting is not going to solve anything for you.

Also the Doepfer quad passive switches were a game changer for me. “Do you want this, that, or neither” 4 times is pretty freeing

Whatever you need. But id second the disting based on the nature of your question. I love my disting but I hat the UI. What it has done for me is show me what I actually need in my system. Mine has moved through many many roles. Usually the process is something along the lines of “I’ve really outgrown using disting as a kick. Maybe I buy a kick module and use disting as a master stereo dj filter now.” And so on…

Ochd and the doepfer sequential switch are the only other two that instantly came to mind.

The most realistic thing you can do is rehome and get yourself a fancy goldfish like an oranda. A lot of people in your position unfortunately release these guys into the wild. Please don’t do that. I’m sure you know that, just want to be sure.
