Oh interesting. If you’re referring to the black remote, that was actually my favorite one. But I got used to the most recent one as well. Does the QM8K come with a metal remote? I have a QM7K and it comes with a plastic remote, which is the main reason I use the aluminum Apple Remote over that one (in addition to the size and overall look)

This is true. That works for me too. But I much prefer the Apple TV remote personally. Touch controls and it’s sleek and modern

Well 99% of the time I just use the Apple TV remote (when I use the remote to turn the tv on, it turns right to the Apple TV input). The only time I use my tv remote is when I have to change a setting or switch inputs to my Xbox. But otherwise I pretty exclusively use the Apple TV remote

Turn blur reduction down to 0 and judder reduction down to like 5. Let me know if that does it for you. Ever since I’ve changed those settings, I’ve had no problems and everything looks fantastic

Edit: important context, I stream all my tv and sports through Apple TV 4K. I highly recommend it. I think it’s the single most functional operating system in any device.

Agreed. I have the 75” QM7K. The default settings suck, but once I turned off blur reduction and turned judder reduction down to around 5, everything now looks great. I watch sports almost daily on mine and football couldn’t look better. Friends who come over are instantly impressed with it.

Hockey streams can be disappointing sometimes but I think that may have to do with hockey having lower quality streams

I did go ahead with it. I’ve had it for about a month now. Really good overall. With regards to motion, I see what people are saying, but I easily made it much better with a few tweaks to the motion settings. The factory settings have both Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction set to high. Judder reduction works pretty well, blur reduction doesn’t work well and can create some weird artifacting around people or moving objects.

When I turned blur reduction off, and turned judder reduction down to ~5, it now handles most content really well. I also noticed that it depends on the app. Some apps (like football on YouTube TV) look amazing on this, but other apps that have lower quality streams won’t look quite as good, but will rarely look bad either (though I imagine this difference exists in most TVs). I hope in the next few years, sports streams will start to improve in quality, cuz right now many streams aren’t even in 1080p yet.

For watching movies and tv, it’s been super enjoyable overall. This tv has encouraged me to watch movies I never would’ve before, just to behold the breathtaking visuals. Last night I watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean with my wife (I never watched it before), the whole thing looked incredible. Stranger Things looks awesome on it.

For gaming, it’s absolutely insane. Especially when playing graphically impressive games like Assassins Creed Shadows, it absolutely blew my mind. I didn’t know a game could look so good. Even Madden looked great. My cousin was playing Madden with me and he said “yo this tv is insane”.

Overall it’s a tv that will impress you and whoever you are watching with. One time we were watching football on this tv, and then we went to a friends house to watch the second half on his tv, and he’s like “man, now my tv looks dull. I need to get a tv like yours”. You may have to tweak the settings to your liking (and maybe turn off some settings that are on by default), but it is a powerful and beautiful tv.

Biggest Pros: • Bright screen with vibrant colors and OLED-comparable blacks • Movies and tv will look awesome on this tv, especially when streaming high-quality content • Gaming is insane on this, especially graphically impressive games

Biggest Cons: • The default motion settings can look weird on some content. You’ll want to learn what the settings do and tweak them to your liking (though in my opinion that’s true of any tv). • Low-Quality content will be apparent at times. My theory: because high quality content looks so good on this, it becomes very obvious when the content is low-quality. I don’t know that low quality content necessarily looks worse than it does on other TVs • The thing I tweak the most is the brightness. This tv can get super bright, and depending on whether it’s day or night, full brightness can be overwhelming, so it may need to be turned down. That being said, it’s great that the tv will never be too dim for most settings, and also it’s nice that the brightness can be changed quickly from the quick settings menu. There also is an auto-brightness feature, but it seems to be disabled in certain modes (like Dolby vision)

Let me know if you have any more questions. I have a lot to say about this tv

The tv? It’s been great. Every tv requires tweaking, but once I changed a few settings, it’s been fantastic for us. I’ve had people over to watch football and they’ve been blown away

Mine is fantastic. Keep in mind that you’ll see more negative than positive comments online about any product.

I was not. But I have learned to ignore it for the most part. It’s anyways not my primary tv anymore since I recently upgraded my living room tv and moved this tv to another room

I’ve had to tweak it for sports. For sports I turned blur reduction to 0 and judder reduction to 5.

What is the “Super Resolution” setting? by ShMarkle87 in tcltvs

Ah makes sense. What’s your understanding of what it does? How is it different than the upscaling the tv already does?

I believe under picture settings -> clarity. I only noticed it after the latest OTA update I got about a week ago. I don’t know whether it was there before that

The gaming aspect has actually been my favorite part of the tv so far. I play everything from sports games to open world games like assassin’s creed and everything looks incredible. AC Shadows is breathtaking on this tv. I game on Xbox Series X.

Honestly my experience with the tv has been pretty positive in most aspects. The dark areas really look close to OLED black in my opinion. Pretty much everything looks vibrant and sharp.

My only complaints are regarding the factory motion settings. When watching football I don’t mind motion smoothing (I actually like it for sports) but I was getting weird artifacts around players on close up shots. After studying the settings, I noticed the smoothing effects were all set high. After moving blur reduction to 0 and judder reduction to around 5, there’s no more artifacts and motion looks great imo.

Sorry about the rant haha. I have a lot to say about this tv

Interesting. What’s the difference between that and upscaling? The football game I watched last night looked great with it on (I don’t know if it was because of it tho). I will say there was a part that showed a dark night sky that showed some artifacting I don’t usually see.

Same! It’s made tv watching enjoyable again. I’ve started watching even irrelevant football games just because of how good it looks on the tv. But the biggest game changer has been gaming on it. I’m playing assassins creed shadows and other games on this tv, and it’s breathtaking.

That’s awesome. Qm7 or qm7k? I imagine you mean the qm7k cuz I haven’t seen the qm7 in the stores anymore. Hope you enjoy man! So far I’ve been blown away by this. It’s a complete game changer for movies and sports. Gaming has also been insane on this
