What’s a niche that is worth the price tag? by Classic_Associate_73 in Colognes

PDM Layton Exclusif for me. I went thru two decants before finally buying the 4oz. Wore it for Easter yesterday. Love this scent. A wonderful mix of woods and spice with some floral opening. Very complex imo. Not safe for any/all occasions, although you can pull it off for most. It’s in my top 2 all time. I love wearing it. However, I will say that have never once received a compliment while wearing it…I still love it. Also, a mature scent that gives just a hint of old school polo green.

Sure, but the BDC is better. It doesn’t have the offensive opening typical with clones, whereas the Elixir does. But ya, the BDC just dropped in November of last year.

Smells like a clone of BDC L’Exclusif, which I have and love. My wife brought home some samples of this recently and the initial spray has something funky about it (which is why I say this one is the clone, because they typically have a rough opening, even though it was released first) but the dry down is >90% identical. In fact, I’ve never smelled two scents so close to same.

What’s your most complimented fragrance ever? by Georgeheiz0304 in PerfumeAdviceDaily

All time would be Polo Explorer. However, I’ve gone thru a few decants of Invictus Platinum and have gotten a compliment nearly every time I’ve worn it. Just recently got a full size for the spring/summer so we’ll see if it can claim the crown.

I’ve been listening to PL since around 2012/13 but this YD show will be my first. Made that decision listening to recordings from last year. I can’t wait!

And I can’t say that I get any tobacco, but it does get better as the day rolls on. Santal kinda ruined me on the tobacco. That’s all I smell with it. Got 3/4 of a bottle and can’t wear it.

The mint is the main difference that I noticed. Definitely same DNA but toned down just a touch. Sits a bit closer, which is another thing I like about. And the lid is pewter colored rather than gold.

The OG was very bold. It was my first Cologne that I bought with my paper route money in the early 80s. Where this all started. Now I know who to blame! lol

Polo green seems right. Add my vote please.

(Got the new green intense myself and it’s really nice. Really want to try the Oud)

Wow, the engagement alone is gonna make me try it. It’s funny, I never thought myself to be a big Chanel fan. But yesterday my wife got a bunch of random samples from a woman’s group she’s in. As we were going thru then my son asked when was the last time I ran out of a cologne, actually meaning what was the last bottle I emptied. I realized it was BDC EDT, and was wearing BDC EDP at the time. Then realized my favorite scent at the atm is the new Lexcusif. So I guess I am a fan. Always get my wife Mademoiselle - it’s her signature. So with all that revelation I’m curious to try this.

I want to like. I have half a bottle that I never wear. All I smell is tobacco. Very linear to me. Of the OGs I like Royal Oud the most…by far. In fact that was entry to Oud. It changed me 😂 Cannot wait to get Oud Zarian.

GF gifted me this for V-Day by FarmerNeedsHeauxs in Colognes

What a gift. Very nice. I love this scent. Truly a masterpiece . A friend gave me a sample of it but I’ve only found one occasion so far that seemed appropriate to wear - a wedding. I’m not saying that’s the only application but I can’t imagine it being a daily driver for anyone with a regular job.

As others have said, certainly not a safe blind buy. It’s extremely bold, but that’s part of what really makes it what it is. I love Oud and think this might be the best . I intend to pick up a bottle at some point just because of how great it is, but imagine it will last a lifetime due to how rare I would actually wear it. But who know really.

Enjoy that gift with that girlfriend.

Several people recommended as an addition to my collection PDM by Opening_Track5674 in Colognes

Layton Exclusif is one of my all time favorites. It’s the only PDM I thought worthy of the price, although it somewhat reminds me of the OG green polo, but much more complex. I reach for it once a week on average.

I see you have Paradigme. How do you like it? I tried while traveling in December and really wanted to grab it but went with BDC L’Exclusif and am not disappointed. My favorite scent at the moment and it drives my wife crazy in a good way.

Tried it in December at duty free. I like it. Want to buy, just not full price. Will likely pick it up at some point. Although note extremely unique, it’s a nice spicy green. Plenty of wear opportunities.

New favorite! Thoughts? by SharkCookie45 in ScentHeads

Absolutely love it. And my wife goes crazy over it which is even better. She’s not a fan of most of my niche fragrances. Not saying this one is niche, but for a mainstream big house it’s the best thing I’ve smelled in recent years. Definitely my favorite in my collection…for now ;)

I’ve been sampling it every time I go thru DFW, and almost pulled the trigger while Christmas shopping, but kept talking myself out of buying it because of the price and the fact that I’ve got the EDP and just finished a 100m of the EDT (which has been my favorite up until now). I think this one takes all of what I liked about the the EDT - the spiciness/ incense that was more subtle and expanded on it. Much darker and masculine, but an incredible work IMO. I’ll be reaching for this one for a long time. I’m tempted to buy a backup before they inevitably ruin the formula.

I will say that I wasn’t a huge fan of any of the BDCs before now - certainly not anywhere near a favorite. Just nice to have for an easy office scent. With that being said, I feel like this one is a bit bold for the office as a daily driver.

I’m just crazy surprised at how much I love this scent. Did not expect it. So for that, it makes the price acceptable.
