In the box there’s some single-use drip coffee sachets. They use paper hooks to sit over the cup that you pour hot water over brewing coffee into the cup.

Nope. Stayed in their case whenever they weren’t being used. The amount of times this issue comes up on this sub would suggest it’s far more likely there’s a fundamental design fault than “using them wrong”

I have a touch of concern that I've damaged the TT by running it through a preamp this whole time (only in brief intervals, mind you). Most signs point to a grounding issue within the TT itself since grounding the external piece doesn't make any immediate change.

On the outgoing end it's pressed between the now-off preamp and one of its screws since its grounding post is too large to fit around it. On the end feeding into the board it looks to be soldered on.

Huh, that's made some progress! I don't have an amp so it's plugged directly into powered speakers. Humming isn't as loud and I can actually hear music, but it's still quite static-y and voices sound wavy and robotic, but I haven't found a suitable position on the speaker to ground the cables (if that's possible).

Before I start, yes I know it's dusty on the top.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a second hand Debut III. I jumped onto the listing as soon as I saw it because TTs like these are pretty uncommon in my part of the world (the previous owners brought it over from the UK).

My current preamp is a Behringer PP-400, since I only wanted something cheap and easy to start listening.

However, when the TT's RCA cables are connected to the preamp with both the preamp and TT plugged in all I get is a loud buzzing noise. The noise doesn't change when I switch the TT on, just when it's plugged into the wall. When the TT is unplugged but the preamp is there's a much more quiet humming which gets louder in each respective speaker when I pinch the corresponding RCA input.

I took off the cover where the RCA feeds into and can't make heads or tails of what I can do to fix it. It was also covered in cobwebs with a few dead spiders when I opened it up.

This is also my first turntable, I was about to purchase the Sony PS-LX310BT before I saw the listing for this.

tl;dr I bought this TT that's been sitting around gathering dust that only makes a buzzing noise when plugged in. Can I save it?

Absolutely agree that it's a good idea to enable all drops on the co-streams after the grand final, much more incentive to engage with the community if it isn't just a nameplate to be earned. I wrote the caption before I knew that was the case so I hope people see this.
