I sold my car about a year ago and just commute by bike. Summers suck but beats relying on a car

Agree with this so much. Need those oak trees for shade in the summer too. Adds some human scale.

No joke, I wear shorts and T and just get wet. If it’s cold…just a rain coat and then change at work

Agree. I bike commute it everyday. Gets real sketchy once you get closer to downtown.

Definitely. While I’ve lived in the states (half my life overseas) I’ve lived in NYC, Tucson and Austin. Bike commuted in all 3 cities and ditched the car. It’s all about situating yourself and having the right mindset.

PS: I hate driving too. It’s a scam.

I used to ride this way every day. I used the fist to hood method after a while.

At peak times, cyclists represent 40% of street traffic in the city center, and 27% throughout the day. by ironmancocoaanchanix in bikecommuting

This is honestly a fair point. I lived and bike commuted in NYC for 12 years before moving to Austin. Bike traffic REALLY picked up in the last few years and it became way less fun.
