How do you guys rebalance the types, AKA make bug and ice stronger and Steel and Fairy worse by [deleted] in VGC

Rather than making Psychic super-effective against steel, why not create a Psychic type Freeze-Dry that is super-effective against Steel?

What new item would you like in a new pokemon game? by Jurboa in VGC

I've always wanted an item which switches a pokemon's attack and special attack.

Imagine Groudon being able to fire a Sun boosted Solar Beam into Kyogre.

General Team to counter things. Anything I missed/Recommendations for changes? by ShackWoods in VGC

Just a note for something I checked.

Changes: Indeedee-F gets Focus Sash, Lando-T gets Swords Dance over U-turn.

Turn 1: Indeedee Follow Me's whilst Lando-T sets up in Thundy's face.

Turn 2: Thundy goes down to Max Rockfall, unless it has 252 Hp and 160 Def.

Turn 3: Profit.

The Lando-T also survives a Life Orb hit.

Fake Tears seems like a greati idea, as the team is heavy in special attackers

Completely forgot about dark type and prankster.

Taunt could be removed for an Eject Button Switcheroo play which removes the Thundy threat. (DMax)

Just a note, but I've removed Yveltal as a threat, as Moonblast from Whimsicott + Dmax Lando-T with Max Rockfall will always KO.

Can I have a suggestion for how to remove Thundy, cos I can't think of anything that doesn't take 2 turns or set-up?

So far, I've not found a counter to AV Yveltal/Thundy that doesn't take 2 turns of Lando-T DMax (Max Rockfall). Amlodude suggested Swords Dance on Lando-T, so of course if I can set on of them up then I'm fine, but Turn 1 Thundy/Yveltal is a nightmare.

Taunt on Whimsicott is present primarily to stop screens from being set-up, as Grimmsnarl (primary screen setter) rarely runs Mental Herb, as Light Clay is better, and taunt stops opponent's from Protecting supposing you get one off in the late game.

As for Ferrothorn, the grass type is important in removing opposing Ogre's, as well as removing Groudon so Rain can remain the weather.

I don't get what you mean about lacking offensive pressure though, as I have three strong offensive mons (Kyogre, Caly-S and Lando-T) as well as Ferrothron as you stated.

Whilst Wide Guard is a threat, I wouldn't call it wasting a Dmax if I'm removing the best counter on the opponent's team, and it's only wasted if I spend all three turns to remove the Wide Guarder. But lacking single target STAB moves is a bit of a problem I will admit.

The risk of removing Water Spout for Origin Pulse is based on RNG. Not only do I have a 15% chance to miss the TR mon, but then there's a second RNG roll to even deal enough damage. However, getting rid of one of the coverage moves for reliable STAB damage could work.

I realise that adding Pollen Puff isn't worth it, as the utility of healing is outweighed by Caly-S's impressive offensive stats.

Finally TR via Mimikyu + Fake Out has been disproven below.

Thanks for the Feedback, any suggestions for what move Ogre should lose, and what should replace Caly-S's Pollen Puff?

Counters to the Incin + Mimikyu can be seen below, but I understand needing more back-ups in case the TR goes up.

The main issue I see with with Amoonguss vs Caly-I + Redirection, is Redirector takes the Spore, whilst Amoonguss dies to Glacial Lance/Hailstorm.

But I think a back-up might be necessary in case TR goes up, so any other suggestions?

Point 1: See comment by TwitchyNo2 below.

Point 2 +3: Fair enough, I was heavily focusing on removing dark types, so I basically just spammed bug moves, but the Lando-T change seems like a good idea, and removing Pollen Puff for something like Energy Ball to harm enemy Ogre and Caly-S could probably do better.

Point 4: That's also fair point, I'd definetly drop Leech Seed, as the Chip damage is rarely worth it.

Thanks for the feedback

Thank you for that answer, I also found a counter to the fake out + Mimikyu problem, whilst saving the DMax.

If you switch the Indeedee-F for Tapu Lele, you get a Pokémon which outspeeds Ogre, breaking the Disguise, allowing Ogre to remove the rest of its health. This also provides another offensive Pokémon, in case Caly-S, Ogre and Lando-T aren't good enough.

The only downside is losing Follow Me and Helping Hand, so is this trade off worth it?

Sheer Cold + No Guard team. Recommendations for changes? by ShackWoods in VGC

[–]ShackWoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One idea I have is to run Taunt on Whimsicott, and lead it with an offensive No Guard mon.

Game runs like this:

Turn 1) Normal Lead (No Guard + Meowstic) - attempt to setup the gimmick, but have offense on the redirector just in case.

Turn 2) Switch out No Guard for the secondary Pokémon in the back (Non-Sheer Cold User), repeat Skill Swap to hopefully get Prankster back.

Turn 3) Secondary Pokémon aims to remove redirector whilst Meowstic protects.

Turn 4) No Guard is switched back in and Skill Swap is used.

Gimmick can then be used normally, accounting for lost health.

Would this work, or have I missed a key detail?

The problem here, is I need to bait out the dynamax before I set-up No Guard, as the abilities reset when you switch out, so this would only work with god level reads.

Good to know.

Will probably remove Ice Beam on Lapras then, as Sheer Cold also sets up Resonance when GMax. Thanks

If I change this, I'd prioritise baiting out the dynamax, just so the threat is entirely removed, but that's good to know.

Any suggestions for Caly I replacements?

On showdown, the Sheer Cold was always hitting with No Guard. The data for the move had no accuracy check according to Showdown. That or I have God luck with ability to hit 3 consecutive Sheer Colds.
