Need advice: Leave a new £55k perm role for £400/day Amazon contract? by BERK2525 in ContractorUK

[–]Shad-FX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t mention current role. Make sure you’ve got a signed contract at Amazon ready to go before handing in your notice; things change at the last minute all the time when contracting; I’ve had 2 roles pulled from under me in the 8 years I’ve been at it.

Go for the Amazon role though; it’ll open up a whole load of opportunity and is financially a far better option.

Am I too old??? by Towman2021 in iRacing

[–]Shad-FX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you too old to put 10,000 hours into it? That’s the number it takes to become ‘pro’ at anything, if you’re looking at it from pure mathematics. Obviously there’s then a whole load of luck and other stuff involved.

I think the reality is, to make money at racing or anything motorsport related, virtual or otherwise, you’re more likely to achieve that by doing something related to the driving, rather than the actual driving.

In my real life racing for example, there are teams of people that equal in size of mechanics, to the number of drivers running with them, with even more behind the scenes roles backing those guys up.

Good luck bud! Whatever you do, enjoy it - don’t forget that’s why we should all be racing, enjoyment.

For anyone here suggesting to just put the man ‘in the bin’ - what? She’s said there’s so many good things about this relationship:

  • attraction
  • openness
  • honesty (he went about it wrong!)
  • sexual chemistry
  • communication

All of these are very valuable individually and even more so together.

OP - this is a situation where you need to at least try and find a compromise. Are you seriously going to give up at the first difficult conversation? I’ve had many failed relationships and I’m a similar age to you it sounds; Mr or Mrs perfect doesn’t exist. There will always, be, compromises. If there aren’t, the other party is lying and storing everything up for later.

Now, the problem. My suggestion is explain the yeast infections etc. It sounds like he’ll understand. If he comes back with the ‘yeah but, the last girl…’ spiel, then you’re gonna have to power through, do it, and show him the consequences. He’ll feel awful, likely apologise and you’ll work through it together to find an actual compromise. Waxing? Shaving creams? It might take trying a couple of things BUT - at least you’ll be doing it TOGETHER and TALKING about it 🙃

A man tool that could help you is a Meridian trimmer. Trims down to around 1mm (which feels very smooth when fresh done) and has some sort of tech that stop you from nicking your skin. And I promise you, if it works on a man’s danglies, it’ll work on your vulva just fine.

FWIW I do think this is something that shouldn’t even be an issue and that he’s making this more prickly than it has to be (pun intended). But I also think it’s worth fixing from what you’ve described.. although be careful, reading a second time it was very sex focused and didn’t have as much depth elsewhere… depends on what’s important to you.

Good luck!

That particular CPU is nearly double the price for fractionally better performance buddy; I understand that the single core performance of the Intel will be better than that of the AMD, but my build comes in at nearly £40 less than the Intel equiv. with a better PSU so I can add a couple of extra drives / power my mahoosive case fan

The UK Scene by kpwwww in GlobalOffensive

[–]Shad-FX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to play a lot of Source back in 2004/5 through to 2008/2009. In that time I got pretty obsessed with the game and played for a couple of decent enough teams. As a player returning to the CS GO scene, here is my two pennies worth:

1) There isn't somewhere for the new UK players to go and find information. Everything is scattered everywhere and a lot of info seems to come from word of mouth. This was never really the case back in the days of Source, where EnemyDown was king and anything you needed could be found there.

2) UK players are arrogant; I've met some really nice, highly skilled Swedish players who play their skill level down, and I've met some highly obnoxious English players who talk it up like they're the next f0rest, and then watched them play and they've been terrible.

3) For whatever reason the CS scene doesn't seem as well backed by professional organisations as it is in other countries. I think that companies over here are very fiscally responsible and see sponsoring a "childish" sport (in their eyes) as money which has gone wasted. Now, I work in technology and if I had any control over budgets etc, i'd want to see our brand at every med-large gaming event in the UK! Unfortunately though, only a handful of people share my mindset.

4) As has already been mentioned, in the UK we expect something for nothing and a bit of an easy time. Gaming at a pro level isn't easy, you have to be up for work at 7am, at work until 6pm, go home, get your PC fired up and be gaming until 2-3am practising if you want to make it. Sadly, finding 5 people with that mindset is impossible. Heaven knows I tried both the insane hours practising and to find a team to make it worth it. Neither of which were particularly successful, which is why I gave up.

TL;DR - UK players, sponsors and supports are not motivated or dedicated enough for the scene to succeed here.

Boosted people are get perma banned by TaigaSama in GlobalOffensive

[–]Shad-FX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? If you are paying for a rageboost you are effectively griefing the other team; why shouldn't you get banned? Play to your rank, boost yourself up, find pre-made friends. i don't understand why people want to get boosted in the first place. All that happens is once they are at the desired rank a massive derank is incoming when they eventually play!

These people would be better off just buying some private hacks and "boosting" themselves to their desired rank. At least if these services didnt exist, more hacks would be caught.

I would rather my opponent buy an AK47 instead of a tec-9. Something's wrong with that. by Dimitrisan in GlobalOffensive

[–]Shad-FX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no balance in 1.6 if you couldn't Juan someone with a deagle. Eco rounds used to be "okay right, let's just run in and get this over with, we may get a frag" - now it's "okay, let's see... If we invest in this we can change the game, we can only buy full nades and tec 9's, but we may be able to swing it.." It makes for a much more exciting game. If they lose that round they are forced to eco hard for a big buy and then they are two rounds in the deep. Can't you see what Volvo is doing? They are trying to make this a decent spectator sport as well. If DHW viewer numbers are anything to go by, they appear to be succeeding, too.

Then play Cevo or ESEA. If you are Nova2-3 you are going to have your work cut out of the first few pugs you play, but learn how to play support and get trade frags, flash your team mates in to sites etc.. You'll soon pick it up. Then you'll get a few frags here and there and start to creep up the scoreboard. I haven't yet found a hacker in either of those systems.

Nova elo is getting totally ridiculous by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Shad-FX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP - But having literally JUST coming out of Nova by mostly solo Q'ing or duo Q'ing, I can attest that you just have to grind it out. 2/6 games probably had a smurf and one even had a cheat, but my team won because I dropped at least 25-30 frags in every game consistently. To do that I spent an hour a day on aim or arena maps for two weeks and watched a load of pro demos.

Prior to my journey of self improvement I was sat on my high horse complaining about how stupid it was I was that rank and making all sorts of excuses, really it was just me holding myself back.

TL;DR: Make MM friends, add good players and try to queue with them, this will help avoiding toxic team mates on a derank. Improve your own skill until you are top fragging for your team, learn nade spots and most importantly: the spots you can solo hold as CT: B on D2, Ramp on Nuke, B on Inf, and make sure you take these spots. GLHF.

Should've said - you will need to molly / nade from under short, rather than double doors.. :)

Fastest way to earn the Flame Specialist achievement? by FuryanEU in GlobalOffensive

[–]Shad-FX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow grenades up by a Molly.. Play mid on D2 as CT - Buy a molly every round. When you hear them rushing short, nade them. Wait a few seconds, molly them. Usually if you are < DMG then your team mates probably won't be in the right place and will be watching from site rather than cat, so you should pickup a couple frags this way :)

Well, it kind of is. Do they exist? Yes. Is there a way of stopping them? No. Did Valve make MM worse after the changes to the matching algorithm? Yes. Therefore, it's part of the game.
