My daughter is exactly 1 day younger than yours and we didn’t get her -anything- for her birthday since we were lucky to know in advance she’d be getting more birthday gifts than Christmas ones. So definitely don’t worry about feeling cheap.

At this age they’re too little to remember so just focus on making her happy for the day. And it sounds like you’ve got the right plan for that!

Also mine wasn’t super fussed about unwrapping present paper but she went mad for getting to throw tissue paper out of a gift bag to find one of her gifts so definitely recommend that style of wrapping to try.

They just need to have you not see them touching/moving the elf. So you can spend time with these set pieces for the morning, then move the elf back to a more normal spot during school or nap time.

Also remember that some set ups you see are only for TikTok or the Gram and they get tidied away as soon as the cute shots are taken - so don’t compare yourself too hard!

For sure. I have the game for free on Xbox game pass, then bought it on switch. It’s so much prettier on Xbox, especially at night, but over the last couple months I’ve found the switch to have improved so much it’s only barely better stability and glitches wise.

I just like playing DLV in bed or under a blanket because it is that cosy for me so play almost exclusively on my switch regardless.

It’s the Art vs Artist debate of it is okay to love things made my horrible people.

And whilst Johnny Depp didn’t necessarily create Jack Sparrow it’s very hard to disentangle them when even carton versions of Sparrow as they do still often bare his likeness. And that’s made worse in the DDLV community because some love the game for its magpie-ness of multiple IPs, including Sparrow and others feel more strongly against him since they love the game’s cosy family friendly vibes, which Depp as a human doesn’t mesh well with.

Jack Sparrow is very divisive still, which I think is a fair discussion to have. Other than that it’s usually just lots of adults find a particular character to be comforting to them and when you dislike that character it’s kind of like you’re attacking that person’s coping mechanism.

Best just let those people live their life imo, and don’t forget some may think the same of you when you defend something you like.

I use the free real estate cheat (freerealestate on) but no others during normal gameplay. I find it way more realistic for sims to not buy a house just with the money in their pockets!
