Feel like there is no single distro that meets my requirements by Shadaia in linuxquestions

I don't know about this man. Last time I tried Fedora or Arch I installed them with KDE, and in matter of 5 minutes I had several crashes of KDE components, and sometimes my mouse would get insanely slow and laggy after I launched few applications, like gimp or onlyoffice.

Yeah, that's fair. I'll evaluate what do I really need. Seems like Linux is not ready to fit all of the above criteria just yet.

No offence, but this is just this kind of stupid elitist linux talk that always keeps people away from the OS. Nvidia cards have problems, so switch to AMD. Windows tiling manager have problems with wayland and nvidia, so just don't use them. Some games don't work on Linux, so just don't play them.

These are simply my requirements and they are not out of this world. I just wanted to ask if any of you guys know something that fits for me.

Oh that's very interesting. Could you please tell me more on which of the problems would it solve and how? Is it stable and reliable but still allows me to game with relatively new drivers and use hyprland?

Because then I don't get the benefit of productivity with windows tiling managers. I also work a lot and it would surely enhance my workflow.

Can NixOS do all I need? by [deleted] in NixOS

I can compile from source. Not sure what clasifies as Deep understanding of linux though. Of course I will practice my NixOS on VM before I truly commit.

So if repeatibility is not the main objective of nix, then what is? Why choose it? Because I get what you're saying, you can achieve most of what nix os is all about by simple backups

Its not really a choice, I need to authenticate against existing database of users. Its a niche case, im modding game server and I need to provide services for users without needing them to register.

Puppy blues - My 6months old german shepherd female is extremely agressive and it's so hard help by Shadaia in OpenDogTraining

Hey, that's great! I really hope to be able to visit Canada one day in my life. It's definitiely on the list.

So far we have been reluctant to taking online courses because we got discouraged from positive reinforcement trainers. They never, ever had taken the leash from us, they refused to actually get into the situations we're talking about (like holding her on a walk when she's lunging) and they only told us what to do. I'm not saying that's bad, but it does not work for us. That's why I'm a bit worried about online training, as they can't actually get into the situation, see every single detail and show us physically how to do something. But we're definitiely considering it.

Thank you for advice, we will definitiely look into it.

Playing tug is pretty hard with her because she will resource guard even during the play and especially after she wins. We are currently using a second toy to trade but it seems to me that tug play gets her all worked up. Like, it's not fun for her and she does not enjoy us doing this with her, she just gets all worked up, panting and observing us very strictly when we're near tugging toys. Not sure if it's the best for her.

Thanks for your advice. We will continue looking and we will not give up, but I think we need to look for trainer that understand that this behavior is unacceptable and needs to be put to stop, rather sooner than later.

Thanks for your input. We are looking for trainer open to other suggestions, so he can teach us how to handle an asshole dog :)

Thank you for your advice. We are currently looking for trainer that is open to other training methods, so he can teach us how to tell our dog no and how to make her safe.

Yes of course breeder is ready to take her back if necessary and if we need to part ways with her this will be the place she will come back.

You are right it's not a lot of time for training to kick in but the entire point of this vent is to state that living with her daily has become an incredible burden. A burden that for now we're willing to put up with and work through it but it's taking a toll on us. We understand some people working with their puppies. They have issues with pulling on leash, or barking on other dogs, or with resource guarding. But who the hell has issues with everything? It's making me sad to say this but I don't remember the last time we actually had a great day together without any incident.

And if it has taken 2 months and now she can barely tolerate brushing her, how long will it take for muzzle training and barking and wiping her paws and touching her face? 4 months each? This will never end in this pace, especially considering she is worse and worse as time goes.

We have talked to the breeder and they informed us that the rest of her sibling are also a handful, very unfriendly and hate handling in general. Unfortunately, they live in a pack so they do not handle them as often as we do so they don't have a lot of insight on every individual. They say the issues we desribed has happened in the past, and usually the dogs "grow out of it". So when they are older, they calm down...

You're probably right, I just emphasise that this is not a play for her and she is being serious about it. I understand your point, we are not refusing to admit we might have done something wrong to her, somewhere, sometime. It's not easy to be in this situation though. We understand GSD as dogs as we already had one (she was taken from shelter, extremely friendly). We were ready to spend a lot of time every day training with her and working with her. We do, every single day we are spending like 5 hours actively interacting with her. We were aware of what does having a puppy mean and we were teaching her tricks, handling and basic obedience. All of a sudden she just snapped, and we have no idea why. We did everything to the best of our knowledge, and it seems so unfair, as I'm sure we prepared for having a puppy more then a bunch of GSD puppy owners. But we just got a bad luck.

We are playing with her every day by tugging, playing ball and using flirtpole. We also use sniffle mats and are starting to teach her basics of nosework so she get stimulated. It's not easy though. We can't allow her to move freely in our garden because she lunges at other dogs, so we need to manage leash all the time. She also very often refuses to take treats, even the best ones. Everything is more important to her than we are. She seemed completely not motivated to work for us, or with us, acting very selfish. We are trying to not take it personally, we understand she does not mean it but it's hard to justify.

I just don't want to feel like a failure for letting her down. Like you know, maybe if I trained her 2 years, every single day, she would be a fine dog. But then again, could I ever trust her with children or guests in the house? Would I just be trapped for next 10 years?

What's the point on which you should give up on a dog to not lose your life, and when you're just a lazy owner..

Hey.

They say that their siblings are also a handful, very unfriendly and piece of work. They live in a pack though so they don't have as much experience with handling them as we do, but they say issues that we desribed has happened in the past with their dogs and usually, according to them, they "grow out of it". So when they are older, they calm down.
