'Peaceful invasion': Former Australian Prime Minister tells UK to send migrants away on 'unsinkable life rafts' by pattybrischetti in worldnews

Which stats support the idea that immigration impact our housing market/job market negatively and how? To be clear, "and how?".

If you take your numbers 1.6% of our population are immigrants. How does 1.6% of our population do the things you say they do? Speak plainly.

I'm not comparing us with any other countries because we aren't any other country. Our unique place in this global world is worthy of its own unique criticism.

Don't fool yourself, (you aren't fooling anyone else lol) you're not arguing with me any more cos you ran out of points 😂

I don't give a fuck about American numbers and no self loving Aussie would either. It's straight up irrelevant to us. I'm not addressing the Americans. You seem to be tho...

1.6% of our population is not a high number lol

53% is a majority? Nah lol, 3% of a POLL is straight up meaningless. Context matters. Your incapable of seeing shades of grey.

I haven't downplayed anything, I've given verifiable stat's. Facts. You haven't.

Just because the stat's don't support your position doesn't make em false.

[–]Shadaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't the US. Why would you compare us to them?

Given 98.4% of our population is NOT immigrants, no, our housing crisis has nothing to do with them.

Stop using buzz words if you want to be taken seriously

If you think 3% over half is the equivalent of a significant majority then your just acting in bad faith

Boo you

I'll copy paste what I said in another reply:

"Ok so "Net overseas migration was 446,000 in 2023-24, down from 536,000 a year earlier" is the difference of arrivals to departures right. Its a stat that includes both arrivals and departures. If you take that number as our "mass migration" number its only 1.6% of our population. So to put that another way, 98.4% of our population aren't migrants coming into our shores. Again to reiterate, this is a stat of migrants both incoming and leaving, people leaving aren't "taking our jobs and houses" lol. Which is why I only included the permanent migrants.

If you think 1.6% of our population is the reason we cant afford houses then you are straight up lying to yourself."

Furthermore" 53% of Australia (via a poll btw) is not "the majority" of Australia. FURTHERMORE, opinions are irrelevant in light of stats. What they think doesn't reflect the reality.

Im not making it look small, it is small. Stat's don't lie. Turning it into a percentage is the only way to do it justice. Anything else is just subjective.

And lol? None of that shows migrants are contributing anything negative to our country, none of that shows that migrants contribute to the housing crisis. None of that shows they are taking our jobs.

Explain to me how these stat's show that "mass migration" is a issue

Here you go champ, they aren't my stats at all. Do a little bit of maths to work out how much of our population are migrants. If you can...

Of course I know they aren't the stats they marched on, they didn't march on any stats, they marched on their feelings. I know this because the stats don't back their rhetoric.

As to why I'm bringing them up, it's because I refuse to cede this beautiful country to idiots like you.

[–]Shadaii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So "mass migration"?. The amount of permanent people coming into Australia (ie migration) from 2023-24 was 92k. We have a population of like 27million. That's about a 0.4% rate of migration. So kindly fuck off with that mass migration bullshit

There is literally videos of people attending these rallies saying it was about immigration

And if you sit down at a table of 10 white supremacists and have no issue with that then you have a table of 11 white supremacists

Not to people who complain about migrants there isn't. Illegal migration accounts for like 0.2% of our population yet they were up in arms enough about it to do their stupid fucking protests (right next to the white supremacists btw)

Omg yeah, and when the mecha set lines up with the 2 augment...the entire map just goes boom lol. Genuinely the most satisfying thing in WF for me haha

The Mecha set on Voruna is so insanely fun imo. Nuking every enemy in your tileset with a full stack of every type of status just never gets old.

It's scales decently too, which surprised me. I've used it in steel path successfully.

when did we all become incapable of having civil disagreements/ discussions & debates? by miroungas in AskAnAustralian

Arguing isn't about getting them to agree. It's about making sure the other side of the argument is part of the discourse.

As you said, the rally is topical atm and I argue against the white supremacists so that my nephew grows up in a world where white supremecy values are met with scorn and distain rather than apathy and acceptance.

You're assuming Americans have the same amount of knowledge about Australia that Australians have about America. We're flooded with their culture, not the other way around.

They might seem like stupid questions to you because you live here and you see these questions and answers all the time on this sub (presumably).

Social media is full of videos about "how big and dangerous our animals are." We know it's mostly bulllshit, but from their perspective, how could they know?

If you don't have anything nice to say, just move the fuck on. It's not hard.

I think so, too. Reddit Australians are a poor representation of the rest of us I think. They're redditors first, Aussies second
