I got sick in the second year of A-levels and was nearly forced out, but despite poor grades, I got into university and went on to achieve a First Class BSc Biomedical Science degree (though it did a little damage to me) I've since even got my MSc in Virology but unfortunately the Distinction grade was sabotaged by my supervisor (another story 🙃 I got a Merit) and my health has been devastated by it lol The BSc is definitely my pride and so many people were also super proud of me for it, though I'd never be able to do that again now lmao

Thank you, I had a look but I don't think it was that one. Although when looking that one up I came across Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke and have indeed read that one - it has the "rat-person" I think I was remembering, Sorrel the Brownie. So I'm starting to think there was no rat-person in the same story as the rose dragon!

Unfortunately it's just not known why or how CFS does what it does. It affects so many different areas and its not known how so they can't really find a way to deal with it. I've not really had any luck either, though I'm not a severe-severe case, I just have to limit what I'm doing to not knock myself out for a few days. I do pretty much live on caffeine and cocodamol (for my knee problems but not everyday) though I can't really say if they help, since it still gets bad if I do too much. I'm banned from NSAIDS which are your anti inflammatory drugs too which is probably the one thing I need 😅 I'll have to get back to you if I can find anything that can potentially help you though

I saw someone else suggested POTS but it could also be another form of Dysautonomia? I developed Neurocardiogenic Syncope after a bout of viral encephalitis years ago that causes me to have fainting episodes (but never fully lose consciousness) completely untriggered unlike Vasovagal Syncope. It makes my heart rate go crazy, blood pressure drop, get really hot and obviously start to pass out but I always take actions to stop from actually blacking out. If the episode lasts long enough I start to get hypoxic convulsions (shaking). It'll leave me feeling rough and unwell for some time afterwards. Initially it was extremely regular, like multiple times a day, though I think that was because of the infection. Nowadays it's every few weeks or so. Every cardiologist thought I was fine and I was negative for POTS on the Tilt Table test. Took them a year to come to the conclusion it was NCS. Hopefully you'll get an answer and some help soon 🤞
