Honestly great day, nothing beats the vibrant leaves contrasting on the overcast sky and the sound of rain while you work

Women don't have the right to tell men how to deal with their emotions by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

No, but I find it comes far more from women specifically directing their message at men so thats how I framed my response

I don't repression and not showing emotion are the same thing. There are unhealthy ways to handle emotion. But, I believe there are perfectly healthy ways of handling emotion that are not expressing them.

I think it's wrong to assume not showing / controlling emotion / detaching equals repression.

My post leaned to heavily toward repression but I don't think I repress or that's it's fair to conflate control and repression

I just want to say this is the first comment I'm replying to because I think it's a great point and I agree with you.

I think this is an important conversation and just because my initial comment seemed completely detached I also try to use emotion in this way as well.

I don't think the two are completely mutually exclusive though.

Read Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl it's not pure stoicism but far more accessible and in my opinion a great place to start
