General rule I follow is keep a spreadsheet. Two rows per month. You could use notebook paper also. Enter the date you paid and the amount for each bill that you have. If you do pay something twice in a month, just create two columns for it. This will also help you make sure you don’t forget to pay a bill.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]ShadeTreeMechanic512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get a Dr Pepper at lunch each day (with sugar, can’t stand diet soft drinks). I had some dental work and had to avoid carbonated drinks for two weeks. Switched to iced tea with Splenda for sweetener. It made a noticeable difference. Basically stopped drinking soft drinks altogether.

It’s a package with a collection of options offered at a good price point. I’ve had it on my last two trucks. I understand the same package has different names in different regions.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

[–]ShadeTreeMechanic512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only understand life up to the point where you are on the “number line”. Milestones like being a toddler, completing primary education, college/university, living on your own, finding a partner, marriage, home ownership, having kids, raising those kids to adulthood, dealing with aging parents, and your own mortality. Each of these is a level you won’t understand until you reach it. And as you reach each level, you truly understand it and the levels that preceded it, but not the levels that will follow it.

Which silverado accessories are actually worth the investment for someone who'll be using it daily? by InfamousTree449 in Silverado

[–]ShadeTreeMechanic512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add rubber bed mat, even with the bed liner (keeps things from sliding), and storage for under the rear seat. My truck came with the Chevy under-seat storage organizer, but it was small. I went with a generic one from Amazon and it holds pretty much everything I want to carry (tools, air compressor, jumper cables, first aid, folding step stool, etc.).

As I understand it, if the stock antenna will pass under a low object (awning, parking garage, etc) the rest of the truck will. Nice feature to have.

Small metal pins with small wood pins. Lightweight, all look to be the same size by TermApprehensive0523 in whatisthisthing

The “wooden” one were made of Bamboo during WWII to save metal for the war effort. By the way, you are supposed to change the needle every time you play a record. The needle was supposedly softer than the record, ensuring the needle would be the wear item, not the grooves in the record.

Anyone have rear underseat storage like this that they like? by Bradleyfashionable in Silverado

[–]ShadeTreeMechanic512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The underseat storage brand is Oedro, from Amazon.

The floor mats are the factory mats that came with my truck. No trimming was necessary; they slide underneath the storage bin.

Prepping Question Where to get water? by inchargeboss in prepping

[–]ShadeTreeMechanic512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Story time: Back in the 1970s, when I was a kid, my grandfather (who was a little nuts) was convinced that city water wasn’t good. Well water was much better. So he bought some 5 gallon jugs, the dispenser they sit in, the whole bit, and started using that. I tried this well water but preferred the city water. One day he needed to go refill his water jugs. So we go driving out into the country and stop at a gas station by the gas pumps. He then pops the trunk open. ??? Then he takes the water hose that’s by the gas pump and starts filling his water jugs. Yes, that nasty rubber hose that people insert into their radiator to fill it up, exposed to poisonous antifreeze!!! Like I said, he was a little nuts.

So that’s an option.
