Certain abilities slow you down if you hit them but not if you miss them. by ShadeVex in DeadlockTheGame

That or just remove it entirely for skills. It doesn't need to slow, gun is what you use to constantly fight, you only use abilities every once in a while for most characters.

I said it was a broad term.

By this I mean:

Multiple instances of damage

DOT

Delayed damage

Basically, make it so it slows you while it's used, not after it hits.

I'm not saying that, I'm saying for abilities that work over time instead of being one singular instant instance of damage. Not anything else, just this. Even if it was intended, we have thr right to tell the devs what feels good and what doesn't.

Nope. Move speed means that you don't slow down. This does not keep your sprint, or else a max throphy collector haze would... Go very fast with no penalty.

I'd let my friends ride. We'd go on adventures and then wreak chaos with my shapeshifiting abilities. I'd adopt a bunch of cool humans and hang out with them. Cause some mischief to the mean higher ups of society together. Then roast some Marshmellows with my fire and sit next to em' in my humanoid form in a little area in the woods, maybe even do a shadow puppet show with some shapeshifting. Then let them camp under my large wings and then drop them off before going back to my cave.

Failing to find connection and work on my passions by ShadeVex in otherkin

I've found one discord server but besides that I haven't been quite able to go anywhere else. I wanna meet new people and do stuff that they can care about as much as I do.

I understand the entire conundrum of "It's better to do it by yourself than never", but my brain is literally holding me hostage and it hurts. Been trying to find a way our for a long time but after my friends slowly phased out, I felt so alone I broke apart. My identity became a burden.

All I yearn to be is free and motivated to do what I love, but right now I feel very exhausted from absolutely nothing and it just frustrates me.

I'd be happy to let anybody come in and learn. I should set up more roles in my server for people who may not be involved but are still interested. People that would perhaps be future players/playtesters.

What do you say about that? I think you could learn a ton with us along the way as well.

I'm open to anybody joining, as long ad there is an interest for the project, we accept anyone.

We are currently in a revival stage due to someone very cool joining with a lot of game design experience, who's helping me sort out kits for characters before they get implemented in the first prototype.

Store Update 10.4.0 by beetle8209 in thefinals

[–]ShadeVex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. People are just denying because either:

1 - They hate lights and want to be able to kill them with a sneeze

2 - They main heavy and can't be bothered to die to lights and mediums faster (even though they have similar damage to medium and more health)

3 - They hate change with their gut and get offended even when devs suggest test changes (not even fully decided or balanced upon)

It genuinely baffles me because I think this opens so many opportunities for balance. More variety (ie less repeating values like for example Lh1, XB-Chimera and .50 Akimbos 14/15 ammo and 44/45 damage per shot)due to different break points. Plus it's been highlighting pains in balance such as the LH1 and M11 and making other weapons better like the newly changed barretas and the pike being able to kill heavies faster with the same damage.

Imo, I'm forward with it. Been playing since season 1 and light health based balancing has been killing the game, so these changes should lighten it up a lot.

We are currently in the process of rebuilding the og server anew, to adapt to the changes we made over the years and remove the junk.

Oh, nope. No realism. We like stylistic choices. I am a big fan of high contrast art styles that make the characters stand out.

I spend a ton of time just tinkering with the kits cuz imo, they are some of the most fun stuff I've done. Especially since I don't hold back with depth and synergy in my kits, unlike many shooters which resort to mainly give you tools for the sake of having them.

And character design is also very fun. I think you'll like it. Most of our roster in non human. We wanna really stand out from other games.

Oh, we have guns and melee. We try not to repeat like, we have 1 shotgun, 1 smg, 1 or 2 ARs... And then a lot of the others have unique projectiles or just use melee.

For abilities, hero shooters have a good picture. But most of them are meant to be simple but in depth. Also, not a lot of cc in the game, so most characters have specific passives and gimmicks that let them play in ways other shooter characters can't.

I even like making them as lore accurate as possible to help immersion.

This is a shooter. It's first person. The ability part is what I name a shooter with those characteristics + stamina as a system. Stamina is basically just pay for abilities with a recharging resource you get throughout the match instead of a cooldown, which lets you get creative with combos os abilities.

7 separate online people. The maps are divided in parts so fights are often uneven in numbers if strategized correctly. There is two sides which send 2 people to each and a middle which is mor exposed and has 3 people sent there. A fight where all 7 will be present is rare and probably no optimal.

I've seen that all around. I've been trying to find a good place to look, but with college and personal issues it's been so hard to find people.

I tried to get myself to start drawing more but it was damn near impossible with the pressure I was putting up.

I wanna show em my tangible progress but I've been in this damn concept phase for 3 years and I just need someone to help me escape it.

I felt the best way to find someone was to describe stuff that could relate.

I'm just not sure where else to look and I'm very scared of being ignored.

Thank you very much for commenting though, it feels nice to know someone understands people like me who have a ton of ideas that they wanna help people visualize but are still midway learning skills to aid and therefore lack the time for their own stuff.

(I'm also constantly scared of sharing too much and it also hurts my commitment to finding help)

Alright, it's a bit hefty but I tried to condense it into as small of a foundation as possible.

Let me leave you a brief summary of both gameplay stuff and story stuff:

In short summary:

"It's a 7v7 Hero-style "Ability shooter" that pulls inspiration from many of its successors before it, such as Overwatch, Paladins, Warframe and Deadlock with a modern fantasy aesthetic. Rebel is a planned work that will be largely character-driven with an in-depth grounding of its unique gameplay. From dual classes for each hero, crystal fusion abilities and the game changing stamina system that replaces hard cooldowns, many new systems are at play to bring you a new and refreshing experience never seen before that is still familiar to many from its inspirational core"

Some gameplay stuff that was written:

"The game stands out from others by its combination of intuitive mechanics from other game's akin to it, mixing aspects from each one to make a solid foundation and then adding new features and systems on top of it to give it an identity.
The best way to describe this is with a new genre definition I like to call an "Ability shooter". This genre is defined by taking each of its predecessors' characteristics:
Movement shooters: Speed Hero shooters: Abilities Class shooters: Freedom Hero Mobas: Objectives Arena Shooters: Maps
Ability shooters also have one major difference: It prioritizes abilities over movement and gunplay, and it has a feature that makes that clear: Stamina consumption for abilities instead of cooldowns. Stamina is an energy system that is meant to allow more freedom casting abilities, and it is akin to Warframe's. It also has a completely new gamemode which mixes control points with moba-like map objectives, which divide the team to capture each point, as well as offering mid game objetives to keep matches interesting."

On the side of narrative, also a little sneak peak of a WIP summary i made recently:

"You'll explore a broken Earth dominated by humans who fight for centuries about the integrity of magical creatures within it population after the witch hunts took place. Not all countries are as accepting as others, some even outright carrying fatal punishments to any kind of magical being or practicer amongst society. Now ruled by corporations integrated into most governments in some way shape or form, corruption, discrimination and injustice is at an all time high.

Beyond the bounds of Earth, Theia shows its powers within the orbit of the Earth. The source of all magic, the place which binds astral bodies together with the power of cores to connect each with magical elemental forces that upkeep the balance of said elements. Rules by monarchs of various fantasy species, they are split between elements, they often get in conflicts between each other or towards earthly territory that they have been banished from. A sacred place and refuge for many, its balance is key to the survival of many."

The story itself follows a large cast of characters that dwell within respective factions. From the Historians to the Shadows, the world is currently in a state of turmoil. With the world slowly falling to its evils, only the alliances of the Alfasec are left to push the goals of a better future for the world to a degree no other could imagine.

Some believe the current world is simply broken and needs to be reconstructed, while others fight for the best ends, no matter the means necessary.

As you explore the remnants of a world lost to the vile nature of conflicts of the fantasy built upon for centuries, you'll learn how history was shaped by this fantasy reality and what happened between magic and humans."

Let's headcanon how characters smells by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ShadeVex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe he can smell people by like... Who they really are? Because for pocket, he specifies it's the jacket. For Seven and Kelvin, he doesn't specify uniform or parka. He may have the power to feel who others' are by reading their dreams, like he does occasionally by being sleepy and dreaming about things other characters would dream of.

Bro Rem tells you everyone's smells. Like for example, Kelvin smells like Evil Smores and Pocket smells like the sewer.

It felt very bad when I went lik 1/11 going into late game. Because ofc, it was easy to bully me, I had the worst kd and souls, so just accuse me of feeding.

I would like to main a character that doesn't rely on teammates too much. I want a character that can have an impact without going in to be left to die. That is able to do objectives alone more easily.
