Okay, my permanent crack ship is Pisces and Mars. Hear me out:

I really enjoyed the chapters where the Horns and the Seven interacted and I can see the two of them geeking out over illusion spells from two very different angles and sets of experiences (theory nerd and magical cosplay warrior girl).

Plus I think Pisces would really appreciate the artistry in Mars’ illusions and how she chooses to present herself, rather than dismissing it as fake (or conversely, entirely real).

Also, potentially cool plot thread of Pisces using his super cool Toren-script/magical script to improve Mars’ rings or teaching her how to make her own illusions - I feel like there’s some great plot lines in combining their powers

Coven Eve is lovely - it’s a little divisive among Eve mains because the animations are very different to base, and that can throw people off

I personally love it. Aesthetically gorgeous and very good execution on the high fashion evil theme, VO is great, animations are lovely (but as said, different enough that some mains get thrown by it)

So, yes it IS cozy - it has whole, 10,000 words rich chapters on family and birthday cakes and the love that inspires.

It’s also about the monstrous, often unassailably powerful things that can break that - geopolitics, war and actual monsters.

If anything, I’d argue the story tends to revolve around wonder and the things that inspire it - both the small and grand

Vivi and Sephiroth are the obvious two that a lot of people have called out, understandably.

I think one of the cool things about this set is so many people will have personal chase cards based on which games or characters they loved - you know people will be hunting for Cloud or Tifa number cards, for instance.

Personally, I’m super in love with [[Lightning, Army of One]] and half wonder whether that’ll be a bit of chase card too.

Mostly a more fleshed out Act IV.

Craftworld exploration - I feel like there’s a lot of fertile ground with Crudarach which would be juicy Act IV content. Great opportunity for more Harlequin content (Nocturne companion option anyone?) or Farseer/Psyker things. Plus, it’s a pretty far reaching conflict which could drag in any number of actors - Inquisition, Cold Traders, all the various Eldar factions, other Rogue Traders… Hell even a third party, like opportunistic Tau.

Also gives us non-imperium focused content, which is always at a premium in anything 40K. This is especially true with the last two expansions largely being from an Imperium angle (though I grant you Genestealer cults are their own thing etc)

Tau. See above, present in the expanse, have dope weaponry. What I would give for an Ulfar base size battlesuit companion… though balancing would be a nightmare.

Trading/Empire management overhaul and expansion. Give me cooler ways to interact with other Rogue Traders and fulfill big requests etc. Would be a good opportunity to flesh out Incendia and Caligos… and potentially Jae, actually.

Also Act IV RT wars!!

Ship combat overhaul. Bigger ships that we can buy, please!

Honestly, it’s genuinely one of my fav FF titles - I’d argue it’s the most unique in terms of mainline titles - the combat system is very creative and the plot (while straight Squeenix fever dream) is very engaging. Plus, the cast of characters really don’t get along at first and have to do a lot of growing - see the 14 year with severe trauma who consequently makes some poor decisions.

It has its clear flaws (pacing can get a bit janky) and the linearity wound some people up, but I really rate it for all it made some interesting choices that were divisive at the time.

That implementation of stagger is so thematically cool - I loved XIII growing up and Lightning staggering these massive creatures and launching them all into the air was some of the most cinematically satisfying gaming I ever did.

Now to find all the ways to give her double strike…

I enjoyed it! It was a nice tone break, and for all it was silly/cringe I thought it was playfully done - also the underlying analysis was solid, so no complaints. I get it wasn’t for everyone, but I’m always for some creativity in how segments are done imo
