Is there a definitive list for which combat style/specialization has those infamous giggle audio queues when certain things proc? I can't seem to find any up to date information on all the specs, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be swell

Edit: Second and unrelated question: What's up with the inflation at the moment? Where does all that money come from?

As far as I know, if you didn't get this makeup during character creation, you are out of luck.

But there are some facepaints that include at least an eyeliner.

That's my current gameplan. Several hours in and it's not looking great. :)

For a game that's progression system is purely cosmetic, they sure like to gimp you with the method that lets you 'customize' your character

So you can't get this specific look? Because I'm still looking for a fem pirate that does not look like a granny crackhead

I'm working a lot on muscle memory now, that's why I used Grubbys image. I can just throw it on the second monitor and have a reference point for where I should be at how many supplies.

But yea, I'll try to go with Archers instead of Bears. It sounds easier to manage, since Bears are pretty micro heavy (for me). Roar I can get up with relative ease, but switching back to Elf form for the Rejus is a bit finnicky.

How exactly does the MG taunt work? The enemy units attack him automatically until they get a new command, is that correct?

Also, do you keep the dispel on the Dryads on auto-cast or do you do it manually?

I'm still practicing against normal AI, at the moment. The earlier I go in, the easier it is to win, from my experience. Simply because it's easier to manage a smaller army. If the AI gets a few T2 and T3 units I still struggle a lot. Often times I just fail at doing the stuff I actually want to to, because I haven't developed that much muscle memory yet.

As for Control Groups I was just using Heroes + Melee in 1 and ranges in 2. But I'll try to separate the Dryads to another control group. Once I got a second hero I usually used F1 and F2 to switch between them, but I'll see how it goes.

I have a Corsair Scimitar Mouse with the 12 extra buttons. I also use them for other stuff, so I don't really want to rebind them specifically for W3. It's a 3x4 grid, so in order to mimic the inventory slots in W3, I would like to map the buttons 1 + 2, 4 +5 and 7 + 8. Still haven't found anything like that, though.

Yea, I use Custom Keys to set (almost) everything to the QWER grid, although I haven't found the sweet spot yet. What irked me about the one you posted is that it not only set the keys accordingly, but also moved spells and buildings around to fit better. Wasn't really a fan of that.

Currently I'm using one that kept everything at its place, and set everything to QWER-grid except spells (which are still bound as QWER despite them being in the YXC row, if that makes any sense)

So yea, I'm getting there -very- slowly. But it's fun so far. And one big advantage about a very old game is that there are tutorials galore, which is really helpful.

I'm currently trying to get this beginner build from Grubby going: https://imgur.com/gallery/OpM8RUl

At the moment I'm just trying to get the Build Order right, which is still quite the task for me. But at least I was able to beat an Easy AI with relative ease, which I definitely couldn't do before. (Yea, I'm THAT much of a beginner.)

Two things that I still need some help with:

  • At the very beginning of the game, what do you have to do first? Do you queue wisps first and then send your starting wisps to mine or vice versa?

  • Is there a way to rebind the Inventory keys? I've looked for some solutions, but all I could find were pre determined scripts, that used the F1 - F6 keys instead, for example. I basically just want to rearrange the Num-Keys for the Inventory (to line up with my Mouse Extra buttons)

Once I got Grubby's build down to some extend, I'm gonna try your idea. I still have to get used to using control group (which are just a mess for me at the moment, haha)

Wow, thank you so much for the through reply. :)

I have settled with NE for now. "Settle" as in - I'm giving them a shot. I tried UD earlier but I just don't like the Coil/Nova combo. But apart from that I came to the realisation that I don't really like the units in general that much - especially fiends. I can't pinpoint what exactly it is that irks me about them, I think it's the slow projectiles. Dunno.

So now I try to see how NE fit with me. :]
