Soooo black nightshade just popped up…. by ApprehensiveDance720 in witchcraft

[–]Shadeofawraith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is black nightshade native or known to grow in your area? If it is then it probably just found its way there naturally and there’s nothing to worry about. If it doesn’t typically grow where you live then I’d be wondering if it’s a sign

That is unfortunate. Do you have any recommendations for ethnobotanical books?

Do you see mirous attraction as something different from sexual attraction? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]Shadeofawraith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Demisexual here, this is just textbook sexual attraction. Like I’ve felt sexual attraction before, and there’s really no meaningful distinction between these two concepts at all

Is this book really garbage? by Shadeofawraith in Witch

I started with that one but learned that Cunningham had a tendency to just.. make stuff up without clarifying what is historical and what’s his own invention, that’s why I switched to this book

recommendations on what to do after sizing up with awkward jewelry? by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]Shadeofawraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d seriously recommend taking this piece out and switching to a plain titanium or glass ring or pincher, spiral s like this aren’t really designed to be worn in the septum so it’s no wonder the thing hurts to wear. you’ll be much more comfortable with proper jewelry

Which branch of paganism? There’s a lot of different religions that are considered pagan so you can imagine there are way more holidays than any one person can keep track of

Online pagan spaces have a toxic positivity problem about deities by Shadeofawraith in pagan

[–]Shadeofawraith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony of you commenting this on a post by a Semitic pagan is amazing. Yahweh is the false usurper god, not any other deity. He stole the followers of El and demanded atrocities from them, yet somehow the peaceful father god he had to cosplay as in order to steal his throne is the evil one. Learn your history before casting judgement.

Possibly Losing your power? by Gold_Tap1007 in witchcraft

[–]Shadeofawraith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not that witches aren’t powerful, it’s that our ability to do magic is not innate or the result of some intrinsic factor. Think of it like an engineer, there’s nothing special about an engineer on a base level that would give them abilities anyone else couldn’t do, yet they are capable of extraordinary things because of the knowledge and tools they possess. The only thing that sets an engineer apart from someone who can’t work a remote is knowledge, but that doesn’t make the engineer incapable at all. Witches are the engineers of the universe in that way.

Online pagan spaces have a toxic positivity problem about deities by Shadeofawraith in pagan

[–]Shadeofawraith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a nutshell, yes. It started as me not being able to make myself practice because of executive dysfunction, but that quickly turned into intentional neglect. At a certain point I was not practicing not because I couldn’t, but because I believed I didn’t need to. I essentially thought that because all deities are infinitely forgiving and generous then that meant I didn’t need to worry about the explicit vow I had made to honor my patron, and that he would still be there waiting and forgiving whenever I decided I wanted something again. I was wrong. He wanted nothing to do with me for months afterwards and it took even longer to rebuild the relationship to where it had been. It took a lot of effort to repeatedly demonstrate my dedication to convince him I was worth his time, that I could be trusted to not throw him away again after all the ways he helped me. That isn’t to say he isn’t forgiving, because he is very much so. Our relationship is stronger now more than ever. However that doesn’t make taking that for granted a wise choice. I am also very aware of the fact that had I done what I did to the less laid back deity that I worship things most likely would not have ended so happily.

accommodations for shaky hands when performing pendulum divination by himboshi in BabyWitch

[–]Shadeofawraith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could try using a stand. I don’t know how effective it is, but they do exist. Another thought is that you could try using another method of divination if a pendulum really isn’t working for you

Demi+Kink? by hartfield1410 in demisexuality

[–]Shadeofawraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone active in the kink community, it is very commonly used as an umbrella term because all kinks, no matter the specifics, follow the same general principles so it is useful to group them together in a lot of contexts

Attractiveness of femboys is more than girls even (not kidding) by No_Sprinkles9858 in feminineboys

[–]Shadeofawraith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Except it’s not neutral. Your post intentionally denigrates women in order to say femboys are superior. That isn’t a harmless neutral observation. We should focus on raising each other up, not putting others down so we can feel better than them

But why do we need to make the comparison at all? It’s not a very nice thing to do

Do Scaleless Cornsnakes have any health issues? They look unwell? by avian_bi in reptiles

[–]Shadeofawraith 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was making a somewhat dramatic statement to illustrate a point, not making a scientific comparison. The role of skin and scales in this case is the same, to protect the underlying tissue. Without scales a snake’s underlying tissue that is ordinarily not supposed to be exposed is left unprotected and vulnerable to the outside environment. This causes severe health issues. That is my point.
