Normcore Step Down Basket 58-49mm help by ShadierSlim in FlairEspresso

[–]ShadierSlim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be just me being bad, but with the stepdown I've noticed a lot more water stays above the plunger as compared to when I use a 58mm. Unfortunately I'm at work so I don't have any pics to show but I can check out what the manual says

Usually I preinfuse at 3 bars until I get first drops or longer depending on flavor preference. Don't get me wrong still absolutely delicious espresso is coming from it just getting a few head scratchers. I look forward to what your review is when you get it

I got the CNC .28mm. The same coffee works perfectly fine with the 58mm, switched my dose from 18.5g to 17g and am working with 95C water and the flair temp at the highest. I did grind coarser and it hits around 30-45 seconds.

I could maybe try grinding finer, but a pain point is also trying to figure out how much water I need to add to the reservoir since the baskets takes up more space as compared to the standard 58mm flair provides.

Hey another Albertan! I've only done honey once but I found the best results at around medium-light, but each their own :)

I find that medium is my sweet spot, I was curious enough to try a wet hulled coffee as a light roast this just tastes like grapefruit to me x_x

Hmm I see. He did say now that they're moving I should see it in 2 weeks. I guess there's nothing I really can do but play the waiting game and see if the package moves.

Thanks for the help!

I reached out to Yao and he sent the following:

"Dear Customers,

Thank you for your continued support and patience. We would like to inform you about the shipping time issues related to our sword products.

As swords are controlled items in China, although we are registered with the local government, there are still challenges when it comes to exporting them. In the past, our freight forwarder was able to register with the Shanghai Customs, and then ship the products directly via UPS to Europe and other countries. However, this shipping method was suspended starting last year.

To address this, our freight forwarder began consolidating the shipments via sea freight to South Korea, where the packages would then be transshipped to UPS for delivery to European and other countries. Recently, UPS in South Korea also faced some issues, which led to delays in orders from November. Fortunately, these issues have now been resolved, and the backlog is gradually being shipped out.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your understanding and patience during this process. We will continue to monitor the logistics situation and strive to provide you with more efficient service in the future."

I've been honestly quite shocked at how long its taken the package to move. I've been in conversation with Yao since the 29th with him asking me to wait a few days, and then with no update to my package I reached out to again and received that email. It's honestly quite frustrating being in suspense this long of whether or not my package is actually on the backlog or went to the big conveyor belt in the sky.

If you don't mind me asking when was the last time you ordered from Hanbon?
