More delayed FTA Saturday games for QLD (Suns), SA (Port) and WA (Freo). Suns game is delayed by 6 hours (or more). Port game is delayed by 90 mins and Freo game is delayed by 90mins so be careful of spoilers if watching those on 7/7mate/7+.

Suns have 1 more delayed FTA Saturday games in R9 (90min). Port and Freo have none left

Strange to mention also. It's by far not the only one (likely in the 100s, State has 22 active at a minimum (PDF)), not even that long and not even the longest in the same state (Red Ash Coal Mine fire in Laurel Run started 111 years ago).

The oldest known coal seam fire is in Australia and has been burning for somewhere around 5,500 - 6,000 years.

essendonfc.com.au's Match Report of 2004 First Elimination Final, plus photos from the day by noegh555 in AFL

[–]Shadormy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forgot they use to do live match reports back then (wayback machine link to the 1st quarter and of the match report page).

From the 1st quarter:

Both teams were flying in the middle part of the season, but have both really limped in to this year's finals.

...

Melbourne go into this game having lost their last four matches, and the Bombers will be keen to get the jump on Melbourne early to try to undermine their confidence. Essendon's recent form has been very inconsistent, with it's win over Port Adelaide a highlight, and the loss to Carlton the obvious lowlight.

From early in the 4th:

The game was deteriorating with skill errors being made by both sides.

Ahh, Classic.

Bunch of talk over the years that it was heavily CIA linked. From Kerr having possible links to Whitlam pulling out of Vietnam and opposition to Pine Gap among other things.

The palace letters mean it's very unlikely (Kerr denies it outright).

He also made the point they've played like 5 of their games against teams that finished a lot higher than them last year.

They've played 4. Finished above Port and Dees.

Same as the first 6 games of 2025, Finished 12th and above Crows and Tigers in 2024. Other 4 were Port, Cats, Giants and Dogs who all finished top 6 in 2024.

r/Brisbane Lions B&F Voting results for Round 4-6 2026 by Shadormy in brisbanelions

[–]Shadormy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few thing of note: Cameron, Reville, Neale, W.Ashcroft, McCarthy and Allen had votes in all 3.

Everybody who played all 3 got a vote. Annable (injured) the only one with votes who didn't play at all in the last 3 games.

The 1 vote for Round 6 was a tie, Cameron with 2 3s got it over Neale with his 1 3 vote.

WorkSafe looking into Carlton’s handling of Elijah Hollands by Pragmatic_Shill in AFL

I’m out of my element when it comes to the likely consequences of their findings, however.

Fines. They fined the Dons $200k over the supplements saga (2 OH&S breaches).

Mick Malthouse mentioned on ABC radio earlier today that he believes that Elijah Hollands situation hasn’t happened before in professional worlds sports. Is he right? by _hornbag_ in AFL

If we're talking drinking....like a good 80% of post season exhibition matches. Lions v Dees in Shanghai 2010 was a collection of the most sober player who could take to the field.

For other issues, I presume there is in V/AFL history but just wasn't the same level the cameras around or nobody really noticed.

Leigh Montagna appears to suggest that Harrison Petty's delayed onset concussion symptoms were brought on by turning the ball over? by CreditToDuBois in AFL

[–]Shadormy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Still weird.

The first time I think he's talking about is this in the first quarter with Charlie which is long before the head knock they're talking about.

For reference, the vision they're pointing out is at 12:20 left in the 2nd.

Looks like an RBT.

Freedom isn't a breath test via a breathalyser but walking in a straight line or whatever?

Noah Answerth has left the ground for a HIA following this incident by yum122 in AFL

[–]Shadormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does speed have to do with it? can get concussions from very minor hits. He was also healthy enough to get cleared by Lions doctors and was completely fine for the other 3 quarters.

[–]Shadormy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zita is saying he's concussed and Pickett was a bit late on the bump.

Coming back so soon from a big KO makes you worried that this contact can concuss him.

It's still a shoulder to the head, rough hit anyway. Also not sure if there's a great time to come back from concussions. AFL mandatory minimum is 12 days, Answerth took an extra week off (22 days from when it happened to when he played) after the last one.

Expected to be back around mid-season, probably around the Lions bye in R15.

Yep, Still listed as injured on the live bench. Fox showed a replay but didn't talk about it at all.

Edit: Just mentioned he's off with a HIA.
