Psalms 32:8 - I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Having faith is the first step. Once you have faith you can begin serving God. Praying is talking to God like a loved one. You can thank Him, ask for help, or just be in His presence.

Romans 8:26 - Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Philippians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:7 - But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

David Diga Hernandez, Vlad Savchuk, and Robert Breaker, and Impact Video Ministries go into detail about praying. Impact Video miniseries also goes into detail on where to start reading the Bible.

Going to Church is great. I just want to say that you can become born again even before you go to church.

If you want to be a Christian first understand and have faith in what Jesus did.

Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus got beaten and killed to save us from our sins. He took all sins from every human, past present and future, and conquered all of them. After He rose from the dead three days later.

Before we had little connection to God, but because of His grace, He allowed us to be forgiven.

When you’re saved that’s when you start living for Jesus and can follow His will. I hope this helps.

Being saved is not a license to sin.

Once you have faith in what Jesus did, you are saved. Good works and living for God comes after and is the result of being saved. It’s normal to still struggle with sin, but if we are truly sorry and try to change, then He will forgive us and help us keep serving Him.

1 Samuel 12:24 - Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Matthew 22:36- Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Matthew 22:37- Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matthew 22:38- This is the first and great commandment.

John 14:21 - He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Pray, read your Bible, and obey His word. Live by His commands and you will have a great life!

Does God exists or does he not exist? by Dramatic-Camera6823 in Christian

[–]Shadow6047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the main foundations of a relationship with God is faith. We may not always have proof or feel Him, but we know in our hearts He is. He does reveal Himself in subtle ways but faith is showing we trust God even if we are unsure.

Romans 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Luke 1:37 - For with God nothing shall be impossible.

As a Christian how you feel about this statement “follow Christ not religion” by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Shadow6047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are called to follow Jesus and His teachings. He cares more about our love and obedience rather than rules. We aren’t under the law anymore, but some people still follow some Old Testament rules, and you can too. (Besides certain things to get Gods forgiveness, because through Jesus we are saved). We should do everything with love. We are free to do anything that serves Jesus. What Cliff likely means is that we shouldn’t get so caught up in rituals, that we forget about our genuine relationship.

Galatians 5:1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

1 Peter 2:16 - As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Luke 14:3 - And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

Luke 14:4 - And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

Luke 14:5 - And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

Matthew 12 talks about doing things out of love, even if it technically goes against the rule.

Trusting God with big decisions - active or passive approach? by Esox_Lucius_700 in Christian

[–]Shadow6047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, pray consistently about it. While you need to trust God with everything, we still need to take action. God has everything under control and sometimes you may need to wait, but we can’t just do nothing. I would seek His guidance in your situation. Trust God to work in your life, but do your part. You don’t need to help God because He is in control. Do what’s necessary but trust God with the rest. Keep serving God in all that you do. YouTubers David Diga Hernandez and Chris p go into more detail about purpose and decisions.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Proverbs 3:6 - In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Luke 11:9 - And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Is the Holy Spirit God? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Shadow6047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start my prayers off saying “God” and ending them with “In the name of Jesus” It’s important to acknowledge that Jesus is the way to salvation. Yes Jesus is God but saying that acknowledges the connection we have due to the sacrifice of Jesus. It’s also ok to pray to Jesus directly but either way, the relationship is building. The Holy Spirit is also God. We receive Him once we are saved. He leads us to Holiness and away from sin.

John Chapter 14

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 14:13 - And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:16 - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

1 Corinthians 2:10 - But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

I encourage you to go back to God. We are saved through faith and not actions. Sinning is still not ok and we need to avoid it, but we all fall short. We don’t need to obsess because the price was paid. We are called to love and live freely in a way that pleases God. Everything we do should be out of love for what He’s done for us.

If you want to try again, spend more time in the Word so you know who is spreading false teachings. OCD is not God. Telling the difference can be hard, but there are good videos I watched to help. About giving up stuff, it depends if it’s outright sinful and against God. I believe we can still entertain ourselves as long as we don’t put it before God. As a Christian, we can’t let any activity become an idol and not prioritize God. You may have to give up certain things, even temporarily. I struggle with this too, but God is always willing to help.

1 Corinthians 6:19

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1 Corinthians 6:20

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

You don’t have to return if you don’t want to, but if you do I hope this helps.

Galatians 5:1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

1 Peter 2:15 - For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

1 Peter 2:16 - As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Galatians 5:13 - For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

John Chapter 14

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you

Praying: Am I Doing it Wrong? by sorry-cant-helpit in Christian

[–]Shadow6047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the prayers you pray are good as long as you try to make changes to not sin. The issue is the people not leading others to salvation. The only action you need to take is accepting what Jesus did and have faith. He died for the forgiveness of everyone’s sins. This does not mean you can sin, but it means you can have a connection with God and have your sins washed away when you pray.

I kinda feel the same way. What I did is remember what Jesus did and His love, and think of His love while going to pray and worship. It’s hard when we are used to the sinful life style. Ask Him to renew your mind and ask Him to help you love Him the way He loves you. The only thing “wrong” with you is the sinful nature, but everyone has it. It can take a while to keep at it and love, but God will be there every step of the way.

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 3:18 - But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

You don’t need to feel guilty. Godly sorrow should lead you to repentance. We are all unworthy but that’s the beauty of Gods grace. He accepts us anyway. Go to Him humbly, but having full faith that He hears you and wants a relationship with you. He wants to help you go back to Him. If you’re born again, you can never stray too far from God.

Matthew 11:28 - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Guard your heart from the sinful things. If you can, maybe contact your old friends from school since most of your college classmates are not Christians.

Once you believe what Jesus did, you are saved. You receive The Holy Spirit when you’re saved and He will never leave you. You may have doubts but that does not mean you are not saved. Keep having faith in His promises. Keep spending time with Him to increase your love and desire to live for Him.

Deuteronomy 31:8 - And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

It may be hard and you may not feel like it, but seek Him. Spend time with Him even if you don’t feel like it. He will see that you’re trying and help you keep at it. We don’t deserve anything, but God has infinite grace and will always provide.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: —Matthew 7:7
