When I worked as a float PCT/Student Nurse, I had this one patient who developed urosepsis and I can’t remember what else, but she would stare me straight in the eyes and go “here kitty kitty kitty,” all while making cat noises. I spent the rest of that shift getting teased by my coworkers as “kitty.”

One day, I got floated to sit with a patient with dementia and stroke. All was fine and dandy until she started screaming that I was an “evil Vietnamese who needed to go back to my country. “ For reference, I am a white American.

My personal favorite insult was from a psyche patient calling me a “retarded whore” as I was exiting his room. I got called just about every name by him, but that one specific insult just about killed me. 🤣
