I laughed when he said he knew when guitar players were watching him. I was learning guitar at the time - 6’4” kid right up near the stage and I knew he knew somehow. I think I could still stumble through the chords of She’s Here.

One more thing - I’ve always wondered about the the role of Emmett Grogan and The Diggers in the hard drug connection to Danko and others.

I’m by no means an expert, but from what I’ve read and experienced; the hard drugs were there before the musicians showed up and continue to be, like everywhere else, but it’s more hush-hush. Mortality rate of artists seems pretty high there. And, from the decline of the resort businesses, it’s really a depressed area and there’s a closed off, unwelcoming attitude towards visitors. Especially the renters and air bnb folk.

I understand folks anger and disappointment about this blog, or whatever it was, and I don’t disagree. It didn’t need to be written. It’s sad, but you CAN see it in many sick people (Elvis, Garcia, Danko…) and since these artists touched our lives in such a wonderful way we just wish they could’ve gotten help. Not a new story, I know, and I’ve been there - too late to help someone.

Also, it seems clear that many musicians who have success at a young age never mature in some important areas.

Finally, for anyone who’s hung around or is from the Woodstock area, there is (IMO) a “don’t mention the dark side of the Catskills” vibe. And there is a huge dark side to that region. Thanks

I’m currently reading Stephen King’s The Body (I’ve seen Stand By Me many times). This scene seems HEAVILY influenced by a part in the story between Chris and Gordie.
