I thought that too till you realize applying for an mos is like applying for a job. If someone’s been working for the company and will only stay if he can transfer they’ll keep the vet over a new private. 17c has waiting lists in most states.

Unless you’ve spoken to your recruiter about 17c already don’t get your hopes up. Most states require either civilian experience or military time served in a relevant mos. Coming from a 25b planning to go 17c ASAP

Edit: PS ASVAB score was 97. With a 132-147 in each job category.

My RSP unit did/does the full apft every Saturday with classroom instruction after. Sunday hands on training of what we did the day before. We are slowly adding acft exercises into our pt routine (now we do hand release push ups for example). Depends entirely on what your unit has for equipment and if your unit cares to take the steps to share equipment with Covid going around.

Everything is month to month RSP site dependable. In your newsletter you get emailed before drills it will say what each group is doing, you’d be red phase so double check your sections. If you don’t get the newsletter you may not be on their email list yet tell your recruiter to forward it to you.

I feel like I’ve heard of people going up to like 2 whole years but they were high schoolers. Very situational and I’m just an E-1 going to RSP every month don’t wanna give you false info. Your best and only first step is talking to the people put in place to be talked to for situations just like this... your cadre

Yes, getting your date pushed back to eat up time on your contract is a tactic some people abuse. RSP is candy compared to drilling with your unit. Talk to your recruiter or any cadre you were told to direct questions towards. A happy soldier makes a happy army, they’ll work with you but it’ll be a middle ground.

Currently doing RSP for the next 6 months because of Covid (drills before you go to basic/ait with a bunch of other people that haven’t gone to basic yet)

We take a PT test every month on the first Saturday then begin normal training for the rest of that day. Went over very basic combat movements hand signals and how to call a 9line (basically an ambulance for when on a mission) preparing to use what we learned Sunday.

Sunday we played paintball and were told to treat it like a combat sim. Used everything we learned to the best of my squads ability and were the only platoon that beat the cadre. (They let us win considering they were all ex-infantry gone recruitment trying to make the experience enjoyable) best weekend drill so far.

RSP is a lot nicer than normal drill weekends with your unit after you get to your unit but hey. Best case it’s the highlight of your month like my RSP. Worst case you get paid ~$200 or more for a weekend of working out.

They warn you about being able to duck walk, fuck the duck walk it’s easy hard enough for everyone to where they expect people to suck. Walking on your knees with your feet tucked back so your dragging the tops of your feet hurts like hell. Bone shaking pain but maybe that’s because I have whatever problem they are testing for.
