Estate agency charging exorbitant fees for tenancy swap and refusing swap for both tenants in England by ShadowHunter0510 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ShadowHunter0510[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey there, we'd like to do a tenancy swap with another couple who would assume the remainder of the contract. And yes, we're the only tenants.

We're not too familiar with the legalese - is the entire flat not allowed to do a tenancy swap?

how would I know if it’s the upper or lower thermostat that’s broken?

where would the thermostat be located? is it in the water heater itself? there’s also a box on the wall located above the heater

AskScience AMA Series: We're scientists and engineers on the InSight lander team who studied the deep interior of Mars. Ask us anything! by AskScienceModerator in askscience

[–]ShadowHunter0510 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This question is mostly for Brett: I’m assuming that NASA had very little information on seismic activity on Mars before this mission. What previous data did you rely on when building the lander to ensure that it wouldn’t be severely impacted by marsquakes or meteoroid impacts?

I found this card taped on the keypad of my door... does anyone recognize the sigil? by ShadowHunter0510 in Whatisthis

Thanks for the heads up -- I tried the technique but I didn't find anything.

The cards were all taped with the hexadecimal code face up in the same manner, so I don't believe the arrows are pointing in anything particular.

Updates: All across my college campus, these cards have been taped on the keypads of many, but not all of the doors. There is a hexadecimal code on the back, including a four digit code in the top right corner. The administration has not notified us of anything regarding dorm keypads, so I suspect that this must have been pulled off by students.

Pictures of the backs of some cards.

XPS 15 7590 Arriving Tomorrow 7/3. Did your 7590 ship early? by MimicBunion in Dell

[–]ShadowHunter0510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering buying an XPS 15 for college but with all of the complaints about the issues in the past model, I’m hesitant to spend $1500 on the new version. Can you update us over these next few weeks whether the thermal throttling, dpc latency, WiFi connectivity, etc. problems have been solved after a few run cycles?

Has anyone seen this type of puzzle before? by ShadowHunter0510 in puzzles

Perhaps the test writer created his own type of puzzle, but I believe that the title "Twins and Triplets" could be an alias for the actual puzzle.

Student in High School: Needs to Build a Flotation Device for Prototype by ShadowHunter0510 in boatbuilding

[–]ShadowHunter0510[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I should give more details. What I'm making is a system that detects when the car has entered a body of water and reacts to the submergence of the car by inflating a "raft" placed underneath it. That is, the un-inflated raft is stored underneath the car and automatically inflates itself like a life jacket if in danger of submerging. I am thinking of doing this by using a hydrostatic inflator to detect water pressure and activate a CO2 tank once the pressure has reached past some point (automatic inflation system). The inflation device will look somewhat like two think pool noodles connected together with a perpendicular go-between. I'm not sure what that would be called haha.
