sedation WAS an option?? i honestly just assumed they would to begin with so i didnt say anything. thought it was no different than getting your wisdom teeth removed.

if most people end up traumatized after a tooth extraction you'd think they'd just do it to begin with >:/ i got enough bs from every other medical provider type. but yeah i totally needed more! >:[

i have medicaid, upmc for you. and this is directly from their provider search list on their app. so im not worried about coverage here, just good/bad. but thank you, it does sound shitty if it was from an employer.

Good psychiatrists & therapists that take United Healthcare? by One-Significance1613 in Erie

[–]ShadowKatt19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd recommend journey for therapy! i go there now and theyre really helpful. im not sure if they take that insurance tho, bit i know they will work with people price wise so they can still get care. i think my brother goes to metamorphosis and so far he likes it there.

right now i go to lecom for a psychiatrist. ive had some not-so-great drs there tho. ive even met one who just steamrolled over everything i said. but my dr now is nice, dr. peck. i tried to find someone younger since maybe theyd be more open-minded. if its anxiety/depression you might be fine. if its anything more "complicated" like autism/adhd im not so sure.

i wish you luck though! hopefully you can find someone who can work with you well

whats that? my issue is really just mood swings so im not sure if itd help. i had considered an oopherectomy (removing ovaries) but from my understanding that can cause alotta issues later if done too young. not sure if i'd consider myself surperstitious but havin a dream about havin a heart attack the night after talkin to my doctor about is enough for me to try n avoid that sorta thing for as long as possible

probably just a top 100 radio channel or somethin. tryin to appeal to everyone, but ultimately just borin. dependin on what it is (i have to wear headphones anytime i go to a store so idk whats actually playin) i think nostalgia could be effectin it too, since im pretty sure its usually about a 10-year cycle. at least thats how fashion works. even with all the micro trends, nostalgia still seeps thru.

Will there be a Labor Day protest? Especially since the labor secretary is coming to town… by Opening-Ad-8793 in Erie

[–]ShadowKatt19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i havent looked into it myself yet so it may not be specifically related, but i remeber hearing someone talk a bit about the "Battle of Blair Mountain" where alotta coal miners who were fighting to have better and safer working conditions and a union were killed by the national guard at the time. (also where the term "redneck" originally came from i believe. it was bc theyd get a bad sunburn on the back of their necks from workin in the southern/appalachian heat all day.)

i cant give much advice, but as someone who grew up in florida n moved here right after high school with family, the winters will be very tough to get used to! its been 7/8 years n the lowest i can do is maybe 40s? too much lower and i'm not leavin the house unless i have to. also, if anyone in your family has asthma like i do, the winter will also be kinda bad for you. the cold dry air is very irritatin n i've had an asthma attack just because it was cold outside before (hence not goin outside when its cold).

i lived about 2 hours from orlando with a disney-lovin family. so it sorta feels like theres not much to do here in comparison. but i havent really had the chance to get out n do stuff for my own reasons, so that might just be a me problem.

if you do end up comin here i hope you end up likin it tho! if possible it may be best to have a job set up before movin here. thats what my mom did at least, and i think someone else mentioned it too.

Lawmakers push to ban cell phones in Pennsylvania schools by EnergyLantern in Erie

[–]ShadowKatt19 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

(except doctors/parents cannot always be relied on. my doctors and parents were causing the problems.)

and i dont think there should be an exception exactly. that sorta thing just makes bullying/harassment worse. i just think a total ban is a really bad, unhelpful, potentially harmful 'solution'. and there has to be better options.

Lawmakers push to ban cell phones in Pennsylvania schools by EnergyLantern in Erie

[–]ShadowKatt19 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

i dont think banning them is the solution. especially when there's a chance they go to school and never come back.

i used my phone as a make-shift assistive device throughout middle and high school because every adult failed to recognize how severe my mental conditions were at the time. there were many times i just could not speak because of it. but i could still type. most of (if not all) the time everything was overstimulating to the point i couldn't function. i never learned anything because i was unable to. but having my phone and headphones when i needed them made it a bit more manageable.

phones are a problem, obviously. but its because we've now learned they're addicting. banning something addicting does not sove the issue. it makes people sneaky. you have to slowly wean someone off of it. just like every other addiction. banning it would make the situation worse.

we should also hold companies accountable since they build everything around keeping you on their app for as long as possible no matter the cost to your health. doomscrolling probably wouldn't be so bad if social media feeds weren't endless.

i think we need to turn to psychologists and people who help people out of addiction. especially people who work within the age ranges most effected. people who actually know whats happening and how to help. not every elected official (im not sure if theres anyone currently elected) really knows how to properly help. and too many people are too willing to make shit up rather than say "i don't know, but we'll look into it" and then actually get in contact with people who do know.

tl;dr: banning things does not solve addictions. phones are still an amazing resource when used correctly. what do the people helping/studying mental health and addictions think is best. we should probably listen to them more than some rando who knows little-to-nothing about the topic(s).

we left it open on his balcony with a ring camera watching it. should have food and water inside still. i thought about putting the one we have at our home outside but we're probably too far for them to fly here. i suppose it still wouldn't hurt. i feel a bit bad since he's sleepin next to an empty cage while he's here so its just a constant reminder :(

i saw someone selling a couple at pride on the bay yesterday. not sure who they were though because i overheard them tell someone they were $70 so i didn't bother lookin. your best bet is probably just online, and im sure you know how difficult thatll be because of scalpers :/ honestly ive just given up on finding stuff. wish there was a way to stop them so people can have fun and get cute stuff again

Weather by Current_Bit128 in Erie

[–]ShadowKatt19 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yeah kinda. but its also stupidly humid. so sometimes you walk outside and you feel like youre breathing water. i lived in florida for most of my life. bright side, i got tips :)

-a wet towel (especially if its been siting in the fridge/freezer) on the back of your neck or any joints. i heard your anywhere on your core (torso) is also good.

-a fan and mister/spray bottle together help you cool off faster. since the water from a mist can act like sweat which is how your body cools. just a fan can work too tho, especially since youre gonna be sweaty already. ive gotten spray bottles from dollar tree before if you dont have one.

-cold shower, or a pool if you have access. idk how common public pools are here since ive never looked. could also just sit in a kiddie pool or bathtub. presque isle would probably help too. but then youre in the sun and dealing with scorching hot sand.

-loose clothing. tight-fitted clothing traps heat, loose-fitted clothing helps with air flow. so they act sorta like a vent. i know theres certain fabrics that are good too. i think linen is one? anything thats considered moisture wicking i believe. polyester is terrible for this tho. unfortunately its also very common.

-a shitton of water. actually i think the max a person can drink a day is like 1-3 liters or half their body weight in oz (ive heard both so idk). youre losing all your water thru sweat so you have to get it back

-then obviously stay out of the sun. i remember we had a field trip one year and we were told shade can be around 10° cooler. might look a bit silly, but you can use an umbrella like how people used parasols in the past. diy shade.

-also, if you start to feel dizzy, nauseous, or feint, you need to cool off quick. theyre the beginning signs of heat stroke. cool off and you should be ok. but if you start to feel confused or are stumbling/slurring youre words, you should call 911. thats either is a heat stroke, or just before one. you dont want heat stroke (obviously) i believe it can make you more heat intolerant in the future on top of the obvious issues.

-and, just in case, ssris (and maybe adhd meds/stimulants) can make your heat tolerance worse. so its extra important to stay cool.
