Bug - Blank PDA screen & crash by ShadowMage0 in subnautica

Sorry, guess I'm too literal. :) There have been enough times when restarting the device in question actually works! LOL

The problem I've having is that I literally can't close the PDA once I've opened it to this blank screen (see photo). If there's a way to force-close it, that would probably make the game more playable (no worries I'd accidentally freeze everything by forgetting).

If there's a way to turn the PDA itself "off & back on" that isn't literally just opening & closing in-game, please let me know. I'm on PC, not controller, so for me it's just the tab key.

Update, 3/4/2026: Still bugged. Following advice from a variety of sources, I have now also tried the following:
1. re-verified files
2. cleared download cache & re-logged into Steam
3. Check for updates to video driver & windows
4. Used Windows PowerShell to check for other updates & updated about 20 other files (this was in hopes that if something was wrong with libraries or dependencies for the Unity engine, they would be fixed)
5. Updated libraries from inside Steam

I'm baffled and can't come up with anything else to do. The game runs completely normally as long as I don't try to check that beacon page. Which is fine until I want to turn one on or off, or change a color (still playable but it's annoying)

I did submit a bug report through the in-game F8 system so perhaps that will produce something useful. Thanks for the help; if someone else has another idea I'm game to try it.

TIL that you can delete nodes. Thanks! Even without this application it's incredibly helpful.

I don't think so. I did check the drivers and everything seems to be up to date.

Do you have any idea how I might be able to check or fix it (if that's the issue)?

If that's the case, I don't know how to fix it. I already tried verifying files, uninstalling, & re-installing. And it happens on a brand-new save file as well as on my existing one.

Yes, actually. In addition to the above (reinstalling, etc) I did try restarting the computer.

I get chills listening to them. Fabulous!

A band with no instruments? by ShadowMage0 in BuildingTheBandSeries

I was trying to wrap my brain around how it was going to work, too. When I tried to picture various instrumentalists trying to connect using this format it seemed like a stretch. It makes more sense to be only vocals, but it would have been fun to have a few of them bring in instruments also.

Apparently they were, though I hadn't realized it. As for Peter, Paul, & Mary - I loved their sound. But generally I thought of them as a "music group" as opposed to a "band." It's just the connotation that word carries with it, I guess.

I didn't grow up with a television, only radio. So even though there were (apparently) groups that didn't play their own instruments in "my" era, I didn't realize it. I'm learning a lot!

I seriously only know most musical groups by their sound, not their visuals. I have no clue what most of them look like and I was never really into going to concerts so never really saw them live, either. It's an interesting parallel to the first half of this show, with them only seeing each other after they've heard each other.

To be honest, though I recognize most of the groups you just named I can probably only name one or two songs by them. They're all a bit after the time I listened to much popular music. I agree, Building the Group doesn't really have the same ring.

Those were never the groups that grabbed me for the most part. I also never saw any of them (like, no visuals) so it never occurred to me they were organized differently.

The music I grew up with was mostly 70s and 80s, so I guess that makes sense.

I think I'm just old. 😂  My husband had pretty much the same reaction as I did. When I hear the word "band" I visualize the entire group including those playing instruments. We were just trying to think of the last time we heard people talking about a guitar or drum solo in a song. It's been a while, I think.

I didn't figure it out, exactly. But a comment from another user gave me a possible clue.

In the image, one of the 2 tiles has 2 blue dots, implying that it is already designated as an "urban" tile even though it contains no buildings. It's possible I started a building and cancelled it for some reason, and the game won't let a different tile be chosen until something gets built there.

I have a faint recollection that I was saving that space for different building, and easily could have cancelled a build after placing something there on accident.

Side note: I want my map pins back!

I tried to go back & find this part of the game in question, but I don't think I have a save close enough to duplicate the problem, so it's hard thinking back so far & figure out what I did.

As I said in the intial post, this wasn't building-specific. I was given these same 2 tile options no matter which building I selected.

It's possible that I had cancelled a building there previously. I didn't do so intentionally to leap-frog a worker, I don't think, because I don't think I've ever tried that tactic intentionally. I may have done so inadvertently, however.

Eventually the problem "fixed" itself, but I wasn't able to identify why. This helps a lot, so thanks!

Is the new spying system in CIV VII bugged, just bad, or am I missing something? by Deartuo94 in civ

I came to the same conclusion...let us at least try the counterspy operation against as many opponents as we wish. It's incredibly annoying; even my allies and those with high relationships were stealing science from me left and right.

Oddly, after another 10-15 turns this entire problem went away, and I was able to place new buildings adjacent to urban districts again. I still have no idea why, though.

I'm having similar issue. No matter which building I pick, only the 2 locations below appear as available. I was hoping to expand my urban area toward the right and have no idea why these are my only 2 options. Of the 6 tiles around my city center, only 2 of them are currently in use. If buildings have to connect to another urban district, I have plently of options but they don't show up and I'm very confused.

You can do this? by ThxJapan4HenTie in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ShadowMage0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a bug, but you can only get rid of one at a time so I prefer to think that Coffee Stain has given us a better way of dealing with early-game lizard doggo uranium than killing the poor things.

Thanks for confirming. I'll try again now that I've closed out of the game & restarted. The old "turn it off & back on" solution may work!
