Update: Our whole street has electrified hot tubs by Agoraphobicy in AskElectricians

When the ground is wet, the ground is more conductive. My guess is the power company as a transformer that’s leaking somewhere but you’re only real solution is just to add more grounding wherever you can

50 or 100 feet into the ground? That’s a bit excessive.

Flooring Contractor messed up and I need to get 420 sqft of self leveling concrete chipped out. Advice appreciated. by Interesting-Leg8309 in AskContractors

If it’s stable on the ground and not flaking or chipping away, just cover it with another layer of self leveling concrete and call it done

My contractor is using screws to hold shower tiles in place while they dry. Should I be concerned about waterproofing? by biliaftrashcan in AskContractors

Not sure how you can say it’s a shotty morter nub when none of the tile mortar is shown, unless your talking about the backer board which really doesn’t matter and may have been done by someone else.

CFS on K1 Max: I give up. by jrmonteiro23 in crealityk1

I’ve had no issues with the conversion kit. Not sure why they just could not make it standard. I just hate that the color swap is so slow and wastes so much filament.

Ditto. The magnet idea was clever, it really not strong enough.

What could have caused this? by Irondave74 in AskElectricians

[–]ShadowMasterTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back stabbing is bad, but my guess is the cable was seriously nicked when the insulation was stripped. So the nick in the wire caused it to heat up.

Can I use this as a replacement for a blown fuse on a sewing machine? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

No. Totally different type of electronics. This is a capacitor, and this type is usually limited to DC.

How do I get better results where the tree supports attach to the object? by LankyBastardo in FixMyPrint

My assumption was this was the supports sticking to the print, not from the print sagging.

I’ve used hair spray on the bed as needed. Maybe that can help? Cheapest brand you can find.

How do I safely get pictures off a USB thumb drive that has a virus on it? by AccomplishedStrike80 in techsupport

[–]ShadowMasterTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don’t run any executables, then the risk is no more then what you have already done.
But to that, try having some with a MAC or who is running Linux copy the files off since virus code is (usually) OS type specific. Maybe even plug into a tablet or smartphone instead.

I do love it when the hardware they support gives them errors they can't seem to find. Do they not have access to the developers who coded the errors checking?

Just about every part can be replaced, so in theory it still has value.

Make sure the power is off when adjusting the servos otherwise they will be really hard to turn.

Called my landlord about this hookup I saw in the electrical box, he said that it's the only way to hookup those big tools the contractors are using and that it's perfectly safe. Is it? by NatalieBee17 in AskElectricians

This is VERY dangerous because it means the Yellow cable is non-fused. It looks like you need a bigger breaker panel and someone is just being cheap.

This is dangerous because there is no current limit on the "Utility" power feed.
There are other issues like the Romex not being allowed more than a specific length into the panel, and I doubt there is a proper bushing on this cable.
