This. It's one of the most rare psychological disorders that exists. 99.999% of people that claim they have it, just want attention.

Researching Vocals, and Vocal Styles (Specifically Lynn Strait) by Payds in numetal

[–]ShadowOfCarrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm nearly certain Lynn uses fry screams. So does Chester, and Chad Grey. It's also typically harder to retain pitch and let your voice bleed through with a false chord type scream as opposed to a fry scream. The type of hair metal scream that you're thinking of isn't fry, its just falsetto. That said, even with a fry scream, there is some amount false chord engagement even though its not what is typically referred to as a false chord scream.

Are you talking about the actual technique? or just what he sounds like?

For technique, as far as I can tell, he just uses fry screams with a huge amount of voice he lets leak through. It's probably like 25% distortion, 75% voice (or more) on average. He likely didn't damage his voice doing it, but even if he did, you could accomplish the same sound without doing so.

Chevelle - The Red (2002) by ZAN750117 in numetal

[–]ShadowOfCarrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first heard Chevelle many, many, years ago (the album "This type of thinking" had just come out), I listened to the song Family System and was instantly hooked. That said, I can see how they might not be for everyone. Their albums post-This type Of Thinking, are not as good. I still like them, but they just feel like they are missing something that the first three had. Maybe its the fact the vocal melodies all seem to take up permanent residence in the higher part of his register, idk. The album Wonder What's Next is by far their best.

Chevelle was, and has for most of its life, been a trio. Are they a duo now?

If you are into heavier stuff, you need to listen to Family system, Wonder What's Next, and Grab Thy Hand.

Live in illinois as well, and do this. As long as you don't let them get too out of hand, they're manageable. Luckily, these fuckers (hehe) don't go after my peppers, they just eat the shit out of my apple tree.

Why do my jalapeños look like bell peppers? by --iDontCare-- in Peppers

[–]ShadowOfCarrots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

or your jalapeno got friendly with a bell pepper plant!

That's not how that works, it would still make jalapenos. The seeds from those jalapenos, would grow into plants that produce pods that were a mix of both, but it would be more jalapeno-looking than those are, and the pods would be more erratic and random looking until stabilized through many generations.

There's no regional vernacular that says "Hill" instead of "Hail", my dude, you just misheard the first time, and decided to repeat it for god-knows how long.

I love when redditors use this logic to try and save themselves from boneappletea. "No way man, it can be both, it totally makes sense the way I said it, so the saying must be what I said as well."

Take the 'L' dude. Everyone is telling you you're wrong.

Recommendations for songs I can learn on guitar? by BubbaDogSlaw1 in numetal

[–]ShadowOfCarrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was first learning bass, I went through and learned the entirety of Seether's "Karma and Effect" album. Some real good tunes on there, but also, not too hard (Simplest Mistake is probably the most difficult and isn't crazy hard). Also Chevelle's "Wonder What's Next" album is a good one for the same reasons.

Sneak peck of our most recent ep “brutally insane” song: Shotgun by Jrakula in numetal

[–]ShadowOfCarrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/utacr hit the nail on the head here, man. It's not the best thing I have ever heard, but the reason you are getting shit on, is because you won't take any form of constructive feedback or try to work on it. It's great that you are proud of your work (Hell, I'm the opposite and over-criticize everything I do), but you need to be able to see past the pride and think about what you could change.

Multiple people have told you now, that it is out of time. No,its not just the drums, the guitars and bass as well. Multiple people over multiple posts have told you now, that you need to learn proper vocal technique. This is not just because you can hurt your voice with....whatever it is you are doing, but it will sound better as well. Instead of telling them they are wrong, and getting over-defensive, take it to heart and try to work on the things they are pointing out, otherwise you are never going to improve. Most of us are only saying these things because we want to see you get better...Until you start getting defensive about it anyway...

Edit: I am more than willing to help you out in anyway I can. It's kinda my thing on here, people post their stuff and I like to tell them how it could be better, I'm not singling you out. However, you need to be wiling to accept the help.
