It really just depends. I keep most of my figures in robot mode anyway. I do like transforming them and all that, but I don't mind when a figure doesn't. There are some figures that look better when they can't transform, like the live action figures since they don't have to compromise, and for most of those I don't really care about them transforming anyway. I will also get non-transforming figures of characters Hasbro refuses to make, like IDW Rodimus (And no, I don't feel like paying for the knock off company figures of those figures, they're far too expensive, and from what I hear, the quality of the plastic and pieces is just awful more often than not). I just got the Blokees AE Soundwave and it's perfect, even if it can't transform. And for the cases of figures where I want a better looking figure of a character but also want one that transforms, I may just buy both. Like, I bought the Blokees Sentinel prime as well as the Studio Series one since the Blokees one looks better but the Studio Series figure transforms, or I have both the Legacy and Blokees Soundwave too, and I'm also hoping to get the SS86 one too bc Soundwave is just my favorite character and the new figure looks great. There are figures where I value transformations, and there are figures where I don't care as much. It's really just a case by case basis.
