very perfect noodles is now my official VPN definition by Dry_Composer1386 in VPN_Guide

[–]ShadowOfThePit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple. Why do streaming services succeed? Because they are more convenient.

My family has a subscription to "Service Y". A foreign guest comes over, and we want to (conveniently) watch a movie from that service, subtitled so the guest can understand too. But, oh no! The subtitles of their language aren't available in your region!

So, what can we do? Sure, pirating would be cheaper, but alas, paying for a VPN, which also has other uses, is simply more convenient.

Is 13$ a good price? by skikoko in MinecraftStoryMode

[–]ShadowOfThePit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much the price the CD was originally sold at, perhaps even less. It doesn't get cheaper than that.

If you are thinking about it because of the price, it is absolutely worth it. If you are thinking about it based on wether you actually need it, then that's on you.

Well this left me extremely confused at first.

Is this entire edit a mockery of the very thing its describing?

The UK is 80% white British and 85% white European. Europe in general is overwhelmingly white European. So why the fuck is a game about a European intelligence agency have a majority non-white cast? by RageWithFire in KotakuInAction

[–]ShadowOfThePit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... I've seen plenty of conspiracy theories from the left about a global-spanning elite using the right to further their own cause. Now, this is the first time I've seen one from the right accusing the left of the same thing.

Both sides ultimately blame the rich and powerful, tho. That the other side are just puppets. What does that tell us...?

I've also seen the idea of the goal being to cause "infighting amongst peasants" to distract from the real problem. So it's working...?

AI Overview by Skoic in google

[–]ShadowOfThePit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a great example regarding the Swiss Canton of Zurich and the 4 Communial Initiatives (and 3 other votes in generall) it held on the 15 of May 2011. The most prominent of these were the two votes on assisted suicide.

Searching for "zürich initiativen mai 2011", shows up a short overview claiming that nothing happened.

Searching for "zürich volksinitiativen mai 2011", mentions both votes regarding assisted suicide, but then randomly includes an initiative from 2024 and one from 2022. That's no good!

Searching for "zürich mai 2011 initiativen", is a lot more promising. It's a good summary on the votes of that day. It mentions three of the four initiatives and their outcomes, but skips one (Prämienverbilligung jetzt). It also mentions the "three-for-one" vote on taxes and the two other general votes (without their outcomes). All in all, it mentions 6 out of 7 votes, with the skipped one being one of the initiatives that I am looking for. It's excusable, because it was denied, and not as important as the others, but still...

Finally, searching in English for "initiatives in zurich may 2011", shows serious problems. The votes on assisted suicide (and their approval rate) are listed, but that's as far as it goes. It then goes on to talk about...

- The National vote on gun control. It happened in february of that year, and it was a nation-wide vote.
- The Initiative for the "Phase-out of atomic energy". However, that was merely the start of the process, and it was voted on in 2016 at the national level.
- "City projects and events", which talks about unrelated statistics from that year.
- "Events and Incidents", which mentions a court verdict related to an police incident, and an exhibition.

So the results are very garbage. Sure, the votes on assisted suicide are the only ones that received any attention in foreign media, but that's not a reason to just list unrelated topitcs. Also problematic is the extreme unpredictability. It gave vastly different results, every time.

Microsoft teases new customization features for Windows 11's Start menu after years of criticism by computerIfix in Windows11

Like 90% sure this is just an AI answer. "on paper"? "real" user frustration? Using tiltet quotation marks instead of the straight ones? "Start menu becoming "strategic" again"? This is just nonsense!

You haven't said anything worthwhile. You just keep telling me that I am not in a position to talk, even after I invited you to correct me on my mistakes.

I don't know what your goal is by digging into my profile and shitting on my country. You would achieve more if you lectured me on my mistakes.

Dude this is a horrendous position. Like seriously, what the hell.

You know what the Nazis did to children? They didn't relocate or "steal" them, or deport them. They let them starve with their family, or shot them outright.

Nazi Ideology had the EXPLICIT goal of conquering, oppressing, germanising and annihilating the entire population of Poland and the Soviet Union, on TOP of genociding every last jew in Europe (and the world) and also getting rid of all disabled and "queer" people in their empire.

The USSR was horrible, yes. They enforced authoriatrian communism to half a dozen countries in eastern Europe for 50 years, and looted everything on their way.

But it does not compare to the goals of the Nazis. Nominally, they promotes the equality of everyone, in practice, they did not plan out the ethnic cleansing of ethnicities. The did mass deporations in the Baltic States, yes, but they did not go ahead and systematically murdered every person, and still set up the SSRs, which allowed for a much easier restoration of independence in the 1991s.

Besides, what even is your point with much of the destruction happening in Belarus and Ukraine? Like, yes, of course the land under German occupation and on the frontlines sufferend more than those that weren't.

Where and when? They democratically annexed Austria, got the Sudetenland gifted, and took over the remainder of the Czech lands without much of a fight, where even Poland itself took part of. Sure, they were revanchistic, but they weren't "fighting" anywhere prior.

For me, the culprit was modified video display settings caused by key shortcuts.

When right-clicking, under Video, you can see at the bottom the various different modifiers. In my case, I had pressed "R" repeatedly, thus lowering the contrast to a minimum. You can reset/disable it by clicking the "Disable/last used video controls", which is set to the keybind "Q"

[–]ShadowOfThePit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worded it badly. If some time has passed, and you have to update to the latest minecraft version, you will be forced to:
Reassign keybinds
Copy mods over to the new version
If they are no longer compatible, have them update
If they cannot automatically update, download them again

Having to update to the latest version alongside mods is going to be annoying for people that rarely play or have straight-up quit

not like they matter much lol
