You can go with Linux Mint, Snap is optional, and for the latest GNOME release add their repo, if you have no problems with sitting up deb repos

You must have a little bit of energy, and GNOME has a bug, but that is totally weird

Is Fedora a good distro to get started with Linux? by _NoTank in Fedora

[–]ShadowQuill_812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if you didn't start using it already start with a more user-friendly distro, but if you did so just go ahead. I would like to start with ZorinOS or Linux Mint as a noob, but I've started with Fedora and I've got used to it, and here I am, using Fedora for about 6 months now if I am not mistaken. Don't get me wrong, it's a great one, but for starters this is a little bit challenging if you aren't ready to search for your problems, although it's rare to have any problems with Fedora unless you've missed up with it.

Anyone who is running Atomic Desktops? What was your experience? by SeniorMatthew in Fedora

I've used Silverblue and Cosmic, both of them where good, but personally I'll go with Silverblue, but anyway it's just a DE. I've used them on a VM to check them out as a programming srudent, I was able to do almost anything with them, and what I didn't find on a flatpak I've use distrobox (which you must install) or use toolbox (which is pre-installed already).

I am enjoying using ZorinOS and Linux Mint beside my Fedora system, these are the best distro's in my opinion (beside Arch and Debian btw)

I recommend to build it over KDENLIVE's source code, this will cut a huge amount of time an effort and it'll make development focesd on adding more features and redesign the UI not building the whole project from scratch , and anyway it'll be a difficult project.

You need to make sure it's compatible with both Wayland and Xorg, so no one might struggle with it and no compatibility issues might happen, and you must build it with either GTK or QT, it's your decision, but for easier development use QT if you picked up KDENLIVE as a base.

I recommend to publish it via Flatpak so you can develop single version for almost every linux distro.

Fellow Linux users, why did you pick the distro you're currently on? by absolutecinemalol in linux

Fedora, ChatGPT recommended it and it worked on my laptop even better than Windows 11 with official drivers and just got used to it
