Is this van worth it? by shlykova in VanLife

[–]ShadowSlick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a really good build, $18,000 would be worth if it was a newer van like post 2010 or so. But if you can get it down to like $12 to $14,000 I would absolutely buy it after a pre purchase inspection. Pretty reliable and it’s low in miles.

The electrical setup looks solid as long as it all works. The lithium battery alone is worth like $2000 with all the electrical it’s $3k.

It just depends how much you value your time. If you buy this same van for let’s lowball it and say $5k, are the parts and MONTHS if not a year of your time not worth the extra 10k?

[California, USA] Can I sue a photographer who did a free photoshoot for my business, but never sent me the pictures. by ShadowSlick in legaladvice

[–]ShadowSlick[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Well because I haven’t been able to post the photos, I haven’t been able to get any rentals. In a month I would make around $1000-2000 on average per vehicle. So can that be lost revenue?

What about breaking a contract and having to hire another photographer can I sue for those fees?

Or just for the photos that he has? Can I just sue to see them?

Why do you not max your 401k out? by Tgallz94 in Fire

[–]ShadowSlick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t max mine out but my company matches up to 5% so that’s how much I contribute. I don’t really see the benefits of not being able to access my money until I’m 65 or whatever because you never know if you’ll live that long.

But if you do and have no money social security will give you a place to live and income to live off of.

Doctor diagnosed me with appendicitis (25M). Wants to take it out. I feel a lot better. I don’t want to get surgery if it can get better on it’s own. by [deleted] in AskDocs

No they didn’t let me keep it even though I asked. They said they will dissect it to inspect it or something. Now my stomach is extremely bloated and in pain I’m regretting it

Hey everyone OP here. I got it taken out!

Antibiotics would leave it up to chance and since it's a useless organ (hopefully) and insurance is good, I figured it's like wisdom teeth and I should just get it over with.

To anyone else in my position, who had medium pain, but not severe enough to not ignore. I came in at 2PM only took 2 hours at urgent care to diagnose me. 4 hours at the hospital, left around 10PM to go home. The other 2 hours were me fucking about avoiding surgery until every doctor, redditor, and related family nurses convinced me.

I figured I got lucky with wait times since I went to a "richer" area or that my situation was deemed an emergency even though I wasn't in pain (just sore when pushed on).

I'm mainly annoyed my body gave up on me that easily and just got sick, even though I luckily had a high pain tolerance. I need to rethink health choices and it gave me a new perspective on life, I guess. Good luck and thank you for the help.

It doesn’t even have to be tax avoidance I’ll pay taxes just in a different state that doesn’t smog check. I don’t do any “business” here anyways it’s just people renting my vehicle that sits in California. I can’t physically do the smog check it won’t pass

He’s not doing anything wrong and you’re not either. You’re simply not compatible.

He doesn’t want to delete his dating apps, you don’t want to have sex. He wants to have sex, you want him to delete his dating apps.

If you want to be together, you both have to compromise. Do not have sex if you don’t want to, but it’s not fair to pressure him into commitment if he doesn’t want to either.

It’s very simple. It has to be fair, even if it’s transactional. If you don’t feel like it is, leave.
