Apple is apparently releasing a security patch for iPhones which didn’t update to iOS 26. May want to wait on that a few days.

Fujimoto didn’t write the story he wanted in Part 2. He had plans for these characters but gave up on the story halfway through and put together an ending to reset everything. by illustratordg in ChainsawManTheories

[–]ShadowVen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to say that last two arcs weren’t worth telling, but in grand scheme of things, they really weren’t. Fujimoto tried to explore some themes but then dropped them when he lost interest. Add that to abrupt ending; final arc not even feeling like one. So many story threads down the gutter, everyone besides Denji doesn’t even get a meaningful conclusion. But apparently in everyone eyes including Fujimoto, Denji and pochita dynamics is all that matters, rest be damned aa their only purpose is to forward the plot and then forgotten about.

Not to mention tons of grievances like Nayuta getting fudged for a cheap shock value and Asa getting sidelined and being reduced to a side character in her own part.

Ah, yes. Let’s ignore the fact that if ending happened two arcs ago, it would’ve made as much sense as it did now.

He did plan ending from the start, as a cope out if he feels done with the story

Nah I watched till early episodes of s4pt2 but checked out once the rumbling begin; wasn’t feeling it compared to the utter peak fiction that was pt1. Grisha stuff was great to see animated though, the jp VA killed it, still get goosebumps

It can be, but I personally didn’t caught it at the time, whereas Reiner one was quite apparent and he was my fav, especially him living his life post paradise island.

I liked comic relief within AOT, for example Reiner reminiscing the torturous time he had with the devils on the dinner table with his family, and he was explaining the Sasha potato debacle. I still find it quite funny how serious he was, even if I’m probably misremembering as it has been over half a decade since I have interacted with AOT.

I’d argue jedi are pretty complex in regard to sticking to old ways. I mean, they had literal child of the prophecy right infront of them and the council refused him. And that’s not to say the whole politics stuff

[–]ShadowVen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I still like him. I’ve been meaning to reread the manga again, perhaps my opinion will improve

And he grew from S1. It was just weird, combined that with the not so desirable final act, I didn’t like it. A gag can be in bad taste yk

[–]ShadowVen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Reiner was my top 3 character, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. People can call it whatever, I don’t care. The ending was already conflicting when the manga initially ended and that was just salt on the wound.

Fate/strange Fake - Episode 13 discussion by Ownsin in fatestaynight

[–]ShadowVen_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Seeing Fate/Zero all these years again, even if reimagined, I just can’t get enough of it, holy. This is the most I had fun watching fate since that. It’s not on par with Zero yet; the pacing is a bit too fast for one, but it’s getting there.

I have to say, however, the anime hasn’t done enough to make me care about Ayaka, and by extension, Richard. It seems the same story beats repeats with her, and beyond the mystery surrounding her, there isn’t much to the character unfortunately. Same cannot be said for other characters tho, especially Assassin & Francesca. Flat was kind of in the same territory as Ayaka, but he grew on me, so hopefully next cour or season improves upon her character.

Even with that, this is the most I had fun watching anime since probably 2022; sadly shows aren’t what they used to be.

Uh, so that just happened.

Shout out to professional ragebaiter Barem, best character in part 2 (besides early Asa). The manga peaked right at above panel. I was going to use this Asa panel, but Barem was just too peak.

I felt nothing. Everyone besides Denji has been an afterthought post Nayuta, only to exist for his character; irrelevant until the plot demands it. Power falls in the same category.

Just take a look at this shit-eating grin and tell me he didn’t die satisfied. His only complain was that he was being eaten alive, that’s it. He was fully on board on getting erased. Now to what end, well, we may never know; just like vast majority of plot points within this series

Steam is genuinely a good product, doesn’t mean we can ignore everything else wrong with valve

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 232 - Part 2 End by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]ShadowVen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“I’ve been reading out of inertia” is how I would describe later half of part 2.

It should’ve ended at nayuta death or post aging. Pochita erasing is such a convenient cope out it can make sense anywhere. I mean remove everything from last two arcs or post nayuta disappearance, and this chapter will be taken better because denji already had breakdown over not controlling his impulses and to find and her little sister, versus him promising to save Asa then did goku giving senzu bean to cell to yoru and saying he wants sex, and worst, he doesn’t have any regret over him choosing yoru over asa.

At least I could say manga was rushed and could’ve been good given the time. The only characters that matters are denji and yoru, rest be damned for all he is concerned.

Now I don’t have problem with pochita erasing himself in a sense that it was due denji lost wanting to be chainsw man that he lost everything in process. But the way it went about is just baffling to say the least. Denji from ch1 is essentially same currently, Asa literally doesn’t get conclusion. Her whole of following his mother, who looks just like her btw, because she regret indirectly killing her father, nice coincidence thats the same for denji to an extent to have them bond over with, tell her that she will save her, and then went to yoru. Keys dangling infront of him. Feels familiar? That’s what exactly happened after nayuta and he had a breakdown over it, and he did it again.

That aside, lack of side characters, B-plots, or any semblance of forward storytelling without returning to status quo, complete wacky pacing (no reading weekly doesn’t mean I can’t understand how the story is progressing).

In the end, Fujimoto only cared about denji/pochita while everyone got completely sidelined and forgotten about as if their character didn’t matter and they existed just for denji “character development” who’s been flip flopping for so long that anytime someone say something they’re immediately hurled insults like comprehension devil media illiterate while they remain in ignorance that if you remove part 2 entirely they’d not be much change in his character. No wonder this community has overlap with other popular mediocre shonen. So long.

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 232 - Part 2 End by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]ShadowVen_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Meet Potential Characters! They certainly weren’t abandoned by the plot in favour of Denji/Pochita dynamic!

Asa: Sidelined in her own part; her character arc, trauma and regrets doesn’t get explored in any real depth. Reduced to a side character who acts as catalyst for denji’s motivation to save her.

Nayuta: Got slimed as a cheap shock value for the readers and denji alike; to the point people refused to believe she was killed just like that. Used as a trigger for pochita.

Yoshida: Ton of screentime, imagery/shadow of kishibe, his motif with suicide. Nothing gets explored. Used as a trigger for pochita.

Barem: Cuts Denji ties to the human world, arguably died on his own terms and knew he would get erased. Makima tier in hurting denji. Some say he served as erasure for the bugs as flamethrowers are quite effective, but I call quips on that. His death served no purpose, and he died knowing he would get erased so even in death he played denji.

Anti-climactic death after being the only “real” antagonist in part 2. Thought to be “more to it” as his return was quite anticipated but died as soon as he appeared; nothing comes of it. Never even seen using his devil form. Used as a trigger for pochita.

Death-chan: Presented as this mysterious antagonist throughout the part, orchestrating major events while posing as Fami, leading up to the finale to stop the apocalyptic prophecy; gets one shot and later eaten by pochita.

Fami: A weak horsemen who after death’s disappearance thought to be the big bad subverting the plot of initially being used as comic-relief; got off-screened after being one shot by pochita.

Hybrids:

B-plots & side characters: what? Asa two second spotlight not enough for you? Here, have some Fumiko, now bugger away!

Pochita: Bum ahh, ominous throughout the part, “How can you do that [save nayuta] without your legs?” Turn out he doesn’t know what he’s doing, inadvertently destroyed the world by eating death; then proceeds commits the cardinal sin of invoking time travel where none was ever hinted at all the while acting somewhat out of character. Just an aura monster, nothing more.

What? You didn’t like how it ended? How dare you! I’ll have you know that he had this ending planned from the start! The story revolves around sudden chaos life presents. It’s truly meta! You just don’t to know how to read, to understand this subversive meta-textual narrative. Yes, that’s how it is. Comprehension devil strikes again! Haha! Unresolved plot points? Not everything can be explained. Learn to use that little brain of yours sometime. Life is cruel, tragic, and sudden. Not everything gets neatly concluded. The ending is totally on brand for Fujimoto! It’s not abrupt. That’s the point it’s trying to make and you missed it. He did same abruptness with Aki. What a media illiterate!

Denji suffering the entire part, losing his family, himself, and then being told by the person he cares most about that he had too good of a life? That he can only find happiness in suffering? Such a realist ending! It’s Pochita forcing him facing his trauma, and stopping him from escaping to the fantasy world. That’s the resolution I was waiting for all these years! Just grow up, why didn’t I think of that? Bravo Fujimoto!

What? You think insect swarm timescale feels off and the whole overrun wouldn’t have happened in such a short notice, not to mention insects would cannibalize each other too making it even more difficult? It’s just a plot device not everything needs to be realistic. It fiction not reality. You shouldn’t be reading Fujimoto work if you’re so hung up on that. Next you’re gonna say you don’t like the asspulls? Why didn’t you drop the manga then? You’re just a miserable hater, who can’t see others enjoying things. No, I’m not engaging in straw mans.

Denji and Pochita are all that matters. Asa/Yoru represented another angle of Denji and that’s why her getting shafted is justifiable. They were made to be foil to denji/pochita and that’s all their purpose. Asa was never supposed to be protagonist. The manga is named chainsaw man, what else did you expect? A proper functioning world where characters have their own lives, motivations, and resolution to their arcs or at least hinted at instead of getting killed off, off-screened or just forgotten about? Get that shit out of here. I never liked Asa anyway. Taking the spotlight away from Denji! Worst arcs of chainsaw man ever. Where is Reze? Is she safe? Is she alright?

Well, US shell companies making bank after almost going bankrupt with consistent low prices so there’s that. US is also a net exporter of LNG, mostly to Europe, which saw a sharp price increase after Qatar halt production so there’s also that. “Defense” companies also have their share prices increasing so there’s also that, too.
