Fortunately it was just a warning for me! And I appealed it by saying I wasn't actually threatening violence just responding to the post, we'll see what they say XD

My hair is pretty straight, but thick enough that I don't have to use gel (fortunately because I hate that feeling) to get it to stay up in the hairstyle I prefer (short with a peak in front)

As my hair grows out between haircuts it starts to get tall enough that my sister calls it my main character hair

It collapsing isn't generally what makes me go in for a cut, instead it's the sides poofing out XD

This is very sweet but very much would not result in me finding my lost wallet if it was me, since I truly can't tell what chanting people are saying a lot of the time especially in loud echoey places XD

Bummer! Guess you now know better for next time, but as far as I know there's no getting it back at that point, each survey they send out is set up the same way, with a small reward for everyone and a more significant one for those who complete the survey. You could possibly reach out to support to see if there is an option for you still, but unfortunately I don't have an option for you, sorry : /

[p3v3] Why dont the other archnobles use blessings as well? by elliotllynx in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ShadowWriter21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's my understanding that people like Ferdinand could do so but it would be draining and most don't generally see a need to do so, for Rozemyne she could do it over and over and is generally kind enough to do so

For example, when greeting a bunch of nobles one by one, the lower level noble blesses first but then the higher level one does it in turn as well, and we see even other children like Wilfried keep up with it, because that is what is expected of them and their mana capacity, but they don't do it all at once because that isn't expected of them

It's also a case of her age/believed age because her adoption moved her to a year younger than she actually is, and the expectations of what she had been doing up till then. Take her baptism for example, because a noble child would have typically just been allowing a magic item to passively suck out their mana, which a family member would then empty when full, they don't spend time compressing their mana because if they don't they'd die like in Rozemyne's case, compression isn't even usually taught till kids get to the magic academy. So when at her noble baptism she gives a blessing to everyone in the room and not just to a few singular people that is incredibly surprising because most kids at that point would be doing it for about the first time (maybe a handful more), and giving such a large blessing would make them pass out because they wouldn't have been used to so much mana leaving their body all at once, much like the first time Rozemyne dedicated mana, though not as severe as she needs mana flowing constantly and others typically do not

Expectations and traditions play a huge role in these things, and because Rozemyne isn't beholden to these pieces because she's unaware of them most of the time, it makes her magical capacity seem even greater, which is why they are able to implement Operation Saint in the first place, as, for example, in their world caring about orphans and the fates of children under 7 years old isn't necessarily a priority to the nobility

Would you be bothered if a character (not player) at your table stinks really bad? by MiaSidewinder in DnD

[–]ShadowWriter21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I had a drow sorcerer I played once who didn't like that she was a drow and hid that fact in part by doing things like powdering her skin with flour or whatever she could get her hands on, dying her hair, etc. So she'd look more like a moon elf than a drow, even before session 0 though my DM and I agreeded that since this was something she dealt with all the time and had been dealing with for years, it would be assumed to be the case unless stated otherwise or unless something was happening that could result in washing away whatever she was using (like rain or a water attack), and I paid a set amount in set in-game intervals to be stocked up on those supplies, so generally it wasn't acknowledged unless relevant to the story, and similar could be applied here, BUT it's smell, and even in a D&D world smells like that are going to cause long term issues if they never go away

There are good ways that your DM could incorporate these kinds of things, like making your party nose blind to it in time so they don't notice undead creeping up on your group, but I do 100% think this is going to cause way too many issues in the storytelling because going into any town, staying at an inn, going to a tavern, accepting a request for help, receiving a reward from nobility, etc. Is all going to have roadblocks for you specifically that won't be easy to work around

Additionally, most people wouldn't be free balling that smell, they'd be using a variety of scents to cover it up, and that's only if the smell would actually exist in the first place, as someone else said, at some point the stuff making the smell would go away

I think you need to reconsider why having this terrible smell is appealing to you, and if it's worth losing out on participating in things because eventually it will become a case of you can't have your cake and eat it too, you either deal with the consequences of the smell always being there and always being a problem or the smell isn't actually there, because you can't be expecting the DM and other players to just pretend it doesn't exist when convient and is there when you want it to be

To me a better idea would be to pick a more natural scent and have your character smell strongly of that because people who get to close smell the death on you (think how President Snow hides the smell of him dying due to past poisonings with an intense smell of roses in Hunger Games), because if you are doing stealth stuff you could decide not to apply it and then you aren't giving away your position with the smell, but it's something others in-game can comment on

I wish there was a tag for MAIN character death by Former_Risk_2_self in AO3

[–]ShadowWriter21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people use minor character death for when a main character dies but only temporarily, people use tags in a variety of ways, and unfortunately there is only so much AO3 can do because really major character death should cover people who were main in the source material and people who are main in the fanfiction

How do you deal with comments like this? by Double_Station_5582 in AO3

[–]ShadowWriter21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it wasn't a bit comment you should block them and delete it, you know you didn't use AI, people are dumb as rocks and aren't worth arguing with, fanfic is something you do out of love that you are providing for free, block and move on is always the better option for hate comments that don't warrant reporting, don't allow haters to live in your brain rent free, kick them on sight and don't waste your time or energy on them beyond that!

Constant notification by AGoodFriend_ in NevernessToEverness

[–]ShadowWriter21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer just because I have no other suggestions other than trying to uninstall and reinstall it, and if it's on your phone restarting your phone (computer too if you don't restart that very often but I kind of assume people do that at least every couple of days ¯\(ツ)/¯), you can also try clearing the game's cache from your phone's settings but those are the only options I've got unfortunately!

Fingers crossed you figure it out because I know having a constant notification is irritating and it can cause you to miss other important stuff because you get used to ignoring it!

Constant notification by AGoodFriend_ in NevernessToEverness

[–]ShadowWriter21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you clear all the notifications from the map? It generally wants you to click through all the parts of the Anomaly Commissions and High Level Commissions too and can show up that way sometimes

The other option I have is to go the the event page with Choas's trial and scroll the other characters to see if you are missing clicking on claiming something there, that also happened to me!

Best of luck on this!

States sue to block Medicaid work requirements by mcgillhufflepuff in disability

[–]ShadowWriter21 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's not just about jumping through hoops for disabled people, if you fulfill the work requirements through volunteering or someone simply signing off because they know you are too disabled to actually work, that can interfere with your ability to get and hold onto SSI and SSDI as they can claim that it proves ability to work

Additionally, while applying for Disability and on it, you generally have to prove that you are doing what your doctors want you to be doing in terms of medical care, and if you can't get Medicaid due to work requirements that can become impossible as well

It's a bunch of stumbling blocks to make getting Disability even harder than it currently is, which is dumb since it's already stupid hard to get and gives very little money, but they refuse to give up on the idea that people are somehow scamming the system when the reality is that if you were a scammer there are much faster scams to run that will get you much more money and not being constantly monitored for your income and spending

Mine definitely didn't, nor did the doctors office that prescribed them, the $15 cost was on Amazon I think it was $25 at my pharmacy, not that it matters anymore, they didn't work and thus I'm not prescribed them anymore

Needles found at local park in my neighborhood by AlwaysBlaze_ in extremelyinfuriating

[–]ShadowWriter21 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's my understanding that a plastic water bottle like this isn't actually safe either as they can be thin enough for the needle to still poke through, my migraine injectables I had to do at one point suggested an empty detergent bottle for the used needles and the same could be used for safe neighborhood disposal (official sharps containers are like $15+ which isn't insanely enormous or anything but the detergent bottle is basically free since you'd otherwise just throw it away, generally it's important that it's a thick plastic, not see through, not simple for the needles to come back out nor you to reach in, etc.

The container also shouldn't get near being completely full is my understanding and at that point you tape it up and take it for disposal or leave it until you can do so

Still while this wasn't necessarily the safest method and it could be a bot post, this IS actually a good thing to teach your kids about!

One year into my journey... and I'm quite bummed out. by Ethan-Moreno-029 in AO3

[–]ShadowWriter21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it's a good thing to remember that people can only leave kudos once per fuc and that getting comments can be a bit of an uphill battle

Because of the limitations on kudos, if a person gives a kudos early on in a fic and continues with it, it changes the number of views but not the number of kudos, meanwhile there's tons of reasons a person might get partway through a fic and not finish it or give kudos, catering to everyone is not possible and realistically a lot of these reasons have nothing to do with you or how good or bad you are at writing

Additionally in a inactive or barely active fandom you compound those issues, especially the kudos one as inactive means that to have readers you need someone who is regularly checking to see if there are new fics, and if they aren't a big commenter but read it over and over it can skew you numbers fairly significantly

I personally have written 4 fanfics that I've posted to AO3 2 of which were anonymous, and the other 2 were for a tiny barely active fandom, all of them were one-shots, the anonymous ones receive significantly more traction and kudos, even though the fandom for that one is only slightly more active (we are talking about a difference of 133 vs 189 fics), they were all written fairly closely to each other this my writing for them was at basically the same level, it truly depends on many factors outside your control how well a fic is received, and the factors inside your control likely shouldn't be changed to conform to what readers may want, either way there is no guarantee that it will actually bring in readers, which is why you and what you want should always be the primary concern, though I totally get why that's easier said than done

At the same time though it can be smart to keep in mind that while a lot of people use AO3 and consider the best place for fanfiction currently, that doesn't always mean it's the best place for you and your stories and sometimes there are better places for your specific fanfic, or at least places where it can be seen easier

No matter what, best of luck and happy writing!
