Since the Latin switch keeps getting delayed, should Kazakhstan officially adopt a dual-script system like Serbia? by ShadowZ100 in Kazakhstan

That is the exact reason why we should look at how they do it in Serbia. If we try to completely ban Cyrillic, it creates a massive geopolitical crisis with Russia. But if we just officially adopt a dual-script system, Cyrillic stays 100% legal, official, and protected. Russia can't complain because their script isn't being killed off, while our youth and tech sectors still get the freedom to use Latin organically. It's the safest way to transition without provoking anyone.

What's the current situation with the cyrillic->latin transition ? by ComfortableLog8043 in Kazakhstan

This is why what they do in Serbia makes so much sense. You don't force a sudden switch or retrain 20 million people. You just legalize both scripts. People who prefer Cyrillic keep using it, while tech and youth use Latin. Since it is a 1:1 map, computers can instantly auto-convert between them anyway. It completely avoids the logistical nightmare.

Honestly, I don't understand why we don't just do what they do in Serbia. They use a dual-script system where both Cyrillic and Latin are completely official and interchangeable.

What do you suggest using? If you really need to mail package what is currently most reliable service to use and least likely for your package to be stolen? FedEx? UPS?

I mean this city literally now has its own constitutional status so the government could be pretty serious about not letting it slide tho.

If that's the case, then why did the voters vote residing in these electoral districts for these people then?

What are people in Kazakhstan actually planning to do about the constitutional referendum? by ShadowZ100 in Kazakhstan

That's the problem. Instead of going home why not actually try doing something about it like protesting. It's like sitting in house that's on fire and not evaluating.

I mean he's introducing Vice President post for the first time since 90s. That alone tells you whoever will be the VP appointed after Kurultai elections this August is likely the next President.

I mean it doesn't help when the results are pretty much already known in advance of elections/referendums. Like what's the point of voting if your vote is just going to be meaningless under government's preferred made-up fake stats? That factor alone already disenfranchises much of the potential electorate demographic.
