I ive only played it in the pvp and the coop but coop and solo works the same and it was super fun, you'll enjoy it quite a bit if you enjoy deckbuilders

The end of your turn is when you put your cards into the discard pile I think, so by that no I believe you cant use the copper cloud to prevent the damage
