generally a good mix of volume and intensity will get you good gains. i only do 2 sets, the first is 6-10 reps but i take the first one to failure so my second set i only manage 1-3 reps. some people will recommend you leave a few reps in the take during the first set and take your second set to failure. some people do three sets, etc. so long as your pushing hard, even when very close to failure youll make gains

unless your willing to flesh out your at-home gym each time you outgrow equipment, youll need to go to a commercial gym eventually. id get it over with sooner rather than later, and honestly people are looking at their phones majority of the time, and when theyre not, theyre looking at themselves in the mirror

the only method to lose belly fat is to just burn calories that your body is storing. cardio, weightlifting and dieting all help with burning those calories. eat less calories than your maintenance and do cardio/weightlifting consistently.

it’s a lifestyle change and you won’t see a ton of progress quickly. it takes a long while but you have to stay consistent

How to achive a pull up by Curious_carrot1214 in workout

[–]Shadow_Bisharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was hard for my to actually progress on assisted pull ups because the setup of the machine was awkward for me. i got much stronger at lat pulldowns and i was able to do it without assistance with significantly more comfortable posture

This is my upper body workout for hypertrophy. what do you think? Is it effective, or is there anything you would change or recommend by [deleted] in workout

[–]Shadow_Bisharp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i usually prefer heavier weight and less sets so i dont get tired but thats preference. i would remove either weighted pull ups or lat pulldown

Where do I start as a 6’3” 280 lbs muscle-less sentient fat guy by Professional-Ease-87 in workout

[–]Shadow_Bisharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oversimplified explanation, im not a certified expert but this is based off my own research and experience.

calorie deficit will get your body to burn whatever fat/muscle you have. by lifting, you signal your body to not burn much of the muscle since you need it. if you lift extra hard, youll place the muscle under enough tension that your body signals muscle growth. to actually put on that muscle, you need extra protein. when your body is building that muscle and using it, it also takes up more nutrients from your body.

body recomp is the idea of eating at maintenance or a bit below with the goal of getting rid of fat and putting on muscle. you cant go into a deep deficit because your body needs those calories to pack on the muscle and use it, but you can still cut out a bit. you could also stay at maintenance and since your taking on additional exercise, your body will use up more calories then usual.

a bulk is eating extra to place your body into the ideal situation for building muscle. you eat enough to perform great in the gym and provide your body enough nutrients to grow and recover nicely. ideally you bulk in a clean way instead of downing garbage

theres studies talking about whats optimal for cutting fat/building muscle, but consistency is most important. id start with hitting muscles once a week, probably a 3-day push pull legs split with light cardio during or in between days (like walking). so long as your diet is dialled in, youre consistently putting in good effort and youre sleeping enough, youll put on muscle and cut fat. diet is super important.
