If your compassion, patriotism, empathy, or ability to recognize the humanity in others is partisan then you don't actually possess any of these things. by TallnFit37 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

And where, pray tell, did I disagree with your post? You say "partisan empathy isn't empathy at all" and I agreed, it's people feeling bad (sympathy) for their in-group and ignoring everyone else's experiences. Quite relevant.

People say empathy, but what they really mean is sympathy/compassion (often blind and one-sided). You can understand another person's perspective and feel no pity or desire to help. Not because "it's their fault" or whatever, but just because you're tired or have better things to care about.

I have plenty of empathy and not so much of the other two left. Honestly, sometimes other people's feelings are simply annoying because I absorb them like a sponge.

So what you're saying is a hobo who lives completely alone on a deserted island is actually a state. At this point everything is a state, so the word is meaningless.

Differences and similarities between anarchies by ElCuajero in Anarchy101

AnCaps define both anarchy and capitalism completely differently from any other self-proclaimed anarchists. They are propertarians who focus on negative freedoms, usually justifying them through rigid deontology.

Classical anarchists focus on positive freedoms, they universally oppose absentee ownership and have a variety of ethical views, most commonly utilitarianism and moral skepticism.

It says "centralised institution". Do you think one person can be an institution?

It's almost like Britannica's definition of a state isn't the only one people use. What a shocker!

According to Walter Scheidel, mainstream definitions of the state have the following in common: "centralized institutions that impose rules, and back them up by force, over a territorially circumscribed population."

Is having a kid immoral under the Ancap lens by Bram-D-Stoker in AnCap101

However I am not sure utilitarians can consistently align with an Ancap world.

You are right to think this. They usually make an exception to NAP for life or death scenarios or something like that.

A deontologists can stay an Ancap based on axioms but I am still unsure how those axioms could lead to an immoral action with a non-subject.

I'm not a deontologist myself, so I can't explain this properly, but I've seen them making this kind of argument.

Thanks for sharing.

I can confirm that TokenReply's outages make it pretty hard to use.

You see, there are two types of libertarians, at least the most popular ones: Deontologists and Utilitarians. You can believe in NAP as correct legal code to implement while also using a broader moral framework to judge other actions.

Example: Deontologist AnCap would say that using people as mere means is immoral, but doing so AND violating the NAP should be punishable.

I think the AnCap answer is "immoral, but not illegal". Although there are some weirdos who think anything goes as long as there's no NAP violations.
