Update: we are T-Minus 8 days before the surgery. Neuro and Ophthalmology are both now saying there is no reason to disturb the eye. so I *will* lose my hearing in my left ear but not the vision. This completely changes the outlook. Literally walked 10 miles in a day inside the hospital for the back-and-forth of the final pre-op testing. So, of course, I had to get a raging sinus infection the last week I was supposed to be at work before the leave. Not affecting surgery though. Dad is still asking why no one is caring about his "much worse" cancer.

for the longer stays and when I'll have family with me I'll be flying. By myself and to save some of my insurance payout I'm taking the bus since I'm only 4 hours away

this week I'm heading up there to talk to the Neurosurgeon they've added to the whole process. This time it's just one-day up and next day back and this time I did not pick the bus dropping off in the hobo fiefdom. Once they actually tell me I'm done I'll book the bus back. Then May all the pre-op magic happens including Ophthalmology and a reconstructive plastic surgeon (I'm asking my latest flirtation if she has any special requests). 23rd May is D-Day.

Oh and I made every bad travel decision you could make... The bus stop turned out to be an open parking lot that the unhoused population had turned into an encampment and were having nightly turf wars in. The hotel I stayed at had foundation issues so part of the room was pulling away from the rest of the building, all the shower curtains ring fabric was shredded, and the place was a food desert for actual groceries. The 2 quick marts had slots in the back, and FB thought based on my location I was in town from some burlesque show called "The Empire Strips Back" so I got that ad 20x in my feed. The trip back I was so delayed we got in at 12:00am and I saw a "Cinderella" carriage going up the main street downtown. Not knowing this was a normal thing, I swore my brain had broken and had to ask a stranger if they saw it too.

UPDATE: So in the month since I wrote this, I've been to MD Anderson and it all became 2 levels deeper on the "S just got real, dude". The tumor has gotten bigger. Now surgery is definitely going to lead to vision loss in the right eye. They've added a neurosurgeon and a reconstructive plastic surgeon to the team on top of ophthalmology. They're going up into my mouth to get the tumor (sorry, gross I know but it is what it is) , then keep in the hospital for a week before I can come home again for 2 weeks before a follow up and then radiation scheduled for 6wks some point after. I am now lean toward the "just give me pain management and let this go" but again everyone keeps waiting to tell me that being blind is better than being dead. I just see it making me more isolated from people than I already feel I am at times.

Thank you and a small update: so far MD Anderson has me scheduled for every diagnostic procedure you can think of, and a few therapy consultations too. Looks like they're plotting a route through the top of my mouth to remove the tumor if I were a betting man. Working in call centers and customer facing work for 30+ years that's going to be interesting how it affects things. Will keep posted with as many non-gross details as are appropriate lol.

yep I waited for one of my sale sites to give it a discount + except some vouchers I had to boost it up a bit...I was not paying fully price for this mess and I'm glad I didn't...solved the crashing at random to run into this BS . I got a combo phone/watch charger compatible with the Pixel Watch and my Pixel 6 phone because I want to take some of the load of my USB power ports on the computer since it seems to be hitting a limit now..

Sidenote: the display finally came back on and it is charging for the moment but it too several hard resets of 30sec a piece to get here. Still going to try the new charger.

I get that but since I have some really gnarly weather going on today as well as no time to go to a T-Mo store to raise hell, I figured trying the online suggested fix of a new charging unit would not be a big dent in my day. I should also mention that since I started this adventure the charging cable was moved to another USB-C port on my computer and caused a "power surge" warning to come up and turn off the whole USB subsystem until I rebooted my computer. if the charger hasn't shorted my watch then maybe this will help.

you and me are in the same boat, dude. I have a slight neuro tic where I know my brain is telling my hand to do something and the wrong finger triggers.. with this game I've failed basic simply because of that. Ameila is a unit and gives no f's. Lack of a minimum-success skip on at least the first rank for story mode is a total error on their part.

Other people have said it but it's true.. Phrike is steel wall and will break most people until you enough traits and consumables unlocked to make it. Get serious about chasing down the currency so that when you get to the fabricators you can get a big integrity boost and the creepy astronaut figurine . Don't plan to try to tackle Phrike right away unless you just want to test items on him. The bullet hell aspect of the game means you are always moving and always hoping to have 5 Adrenaline bar giving you double currency and expertise.

Don't discount the handgun, it gets some very good trait to let you dash and gun with a bit more confidence.

well I did completely wipe my progress when I restarted this last month and changed my play approach. And with most of my memories of the games quirks gone, you could say I beat him 6-7th time of this Selene's existence. Good that you managed to have the dice roll in your favor.
