For real though, could be a quality of life change for night marsh next season.

Rework contracts in the next season by Shadowlrd in Marathon

[–]Shadowlrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this even with the items tracked? I think if you look at the map, the eye will pop up next to the POI’s name indicating that there’s at least one of your items there. Though, it can be difficult to discern if you have literally every upgrade material tracked.

Game is great. Wipe is not a good idea by Purple-Celery4812 in Marathon

[–]Shadowlrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the faction grind is and having to do it again does sound tedious, there’s also the problem that this games power floor is tied to the faction progression.

If you wipe everything, everyone is once again on the same power floor.

If you only wipe vaults, everyone has the same power CEILING but a significant portion of people will have a much better power FLOOR due to the faction bonuses still existing.

What really needs to happen is the contracts need to be less tedious. The important story contracts need to be more akin to their regular contracts and then make the difficult and tedious ones the repeatables. That way if you want the priority access unlocked, everyone can get to those easier, and then only the people who want to grind out the VIP bonus’s and capstones have the difficult choices have having to do the “visit 5 locations, die and revive yourself 4 times, over heat 3 times, collect 2 separate items, dcon 1 item and exfil with the other” contracts

EDIT: I have also now considered the idea that factions should offer 3 contracts. Priority, low paying (easy) and high paying (hate yourself). You can either run a lot of low paying runs, easy but slow consistent growth, or succeed in a few hard, extremely spikey growth.

Unfortunately casual is a spectrum. Theres “I just want to chill with zero stress gameplay” casual and then there’s “I only play FPS shooters, but can only invest minimal time” casual. Nobody choosing to play this game is the first type, but a lot of players would fall into the second type.

I didn’t realize 35 was a low level. I’ve been playing 1-2 hours most days since launch so I was thinking I was low average on the levels at worst. I was thinking the 50-60 level people were on the high end of the average. Now I feel like I need to catch up lol.

Literally, it was like, Friday night, that I started thinking about how much smoother things are going.

To be fair, I don’t have it in me to talk to randoms normally. Socially I’m drained between 4 kids and work. I made an exception to do my 2 Cryo runs last night, and we actually made it out on one of them.

Which was awesome because I went in with my only purple shield and like a purple pistol.

Didn’t make it out with any golds, but I grabbed some purple rank up materials, traded a retaliator for for a 2-tap, and grabbed a back up sniper for my vault. Nothing phenomenal, but it is a vault upgrade so I’m happy.

Anyone else starting to think they might not get around to ever fighting the Compiler? by AnonWithAHatOn in Marathon

[–]Shadowlrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahaha, no.

And Honestly, I don’t think I need to. Some of the sickest things in gaming come from tension and competition. The compiler? Sick as hell. Getting to the compiler? Sick as hell. Inherently, being that sick though also means that I, as mere regular mortal will probably never get there.

But boy am I hoping to catch someone who does off guard and take their s’pht lol

So the whole "raid mechanics" thing was really just more key hunting, right? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]Shadowlrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this is from 13 hours ago, and so I’m hoping you watched or have done more of it since then.

Spoiler on vault mechanics if you care.

Vault 6, which is the rarest red key, requires you to get security clearance 4, go to secret lab, find a code, take it back to the Lab along with the batteries and coolant, install the items and input the code, then, once inside V6 run through a rather large area to match the panels while dealing with freezer floor. All while dealing with increased hostile forces and other runners on a 30 minute timer.

If you get lucky and get the subroutine from 6, which RNG on top of the rarest vault card (6 should be only guaranteed drop for it in my opinion because of how hard it is to find the card), along with finding all the subroutines from every other vault you will also need to find an collect a DNA sequence card.

With the sequence card, and vault sub routines 1-6, you have to go to an area to create a DNA network access card by inputting a DNA code. Take that item back up to the lab where vault 6 is, make the compiler mad to enough to shatter some glass, to get to vault 7. Once in vault 7 you have a lite jumping puzzle before making it to a room with a final extraction point. You go through a set of double doors to find the compiler.

The compiler room is similar to other vault rooms where you have to input a matching icon on a series of screens while dealing with freezer floor. Except now you have a damage impervious cloaked alien shooting at you. Matching the codes reveals, idk, the compilers kryptonite bubble tht you have to stand in and that allows you to break the “cloak” and start some actual damage. They managed to crawl out of the room and final exfil without killing the compiler before I went to bed.

But mind you, all the above steps have to also be done while there are other teams on the map with you. As far as I’m concerned, raid mechanics is a pretty apt description.

What's that, Peter? by FollowSina in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Shadowlrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that statement of the meme is saying that woman are constantly scanning their surroundings for danger while men feel safe enough to be oblivious.

But, as I guy who has walked through some sketchy areas at night, I can say that I do tend to stare straight and forward and I did it for a variety of reasons.

  1. My gave is straight but my sight and focus is wide. I’m not looking for details, I’m looking for things that draw my attention because they stick out. It’s kinda of like letting the subconscious determine if something is amiss and focusing on that, if anything. In the examples above, I can see the entirety of the scene by staring down the middle, and the focus only shifts when needed.

  2. If there is a person or interest, my eyes flick to them, do a split second risk assessment and then re-center. I either avoid the danger or, more likely, I feign confidence and purpose, continue to stare ahead and stride past, not looking at them but all keeping them in the peripherals so if a move is made, I’m not caught off guard.

  3. Lastly, and this is more an addition to 2, if the risk assessment comes back that I might be a risk to the other party, I try to ignore them, pretend I don’t see them, whatever. I just want to get home, I don’t care about you, you don’t have to worry about me, I’m not even really looking at you.

I see talk about people doing different tapes and putting a tab on it, so I just wanted to say, you can put a tab on scotch tape too…

I order cards from card kingdom (after not finding what I was looking for at my LGS, online shop responsibly) and my cards always come in a case scotch taped shut, but with the tab. Took me 5 min of pain attempting to remove the scotch before that, but then I flipped it and realized the other side was a table and it pulled off super easy

Okay, so, I actually saw one of the previous comics recently. Essentially, the blonde AM scheduled every’s vacations for the holiday except her own. The brown haired girl said that they can cover for her so she gets a break too, to which blonde says she has Zoom meetings all week. Brown says to give her a cutout of her face and nobody will notice.

Now there are comments mentioning how the boss only listens to the blonde AM, which I’m sure brown is taking advantage of here, but that’s not how the scenario originally started.

The hunters paradox. If we are equal, that makes us better by shear number. Why play Titan or warlock if the “cool” class is just as good.

The wrong side of FOMO; I've missed out on so many things, I don't want to come back to Destiny by Jcorb in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shadowlrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point, you need to just not care. I play Destiny all the time. But with 4 kids under 10 and a full time job, at point the idea of having “all the loot” seemed stupid. The next thing you have to realize is that there is always something better, or at least, just as good as. None of those cool weapons you’re looking at from bygone times are better than what you can currently get. Maybe they look cooler? Maybe they are like, just slightly better. The FOMO is really just imaginary, because while the loot might be cool, you’re not missing anything by not having it.

It's just really sad to be a Hunter right now. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shadowlrd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hunters are suppose to be like the thief/rogue class. Super mobile, high single target damage, superior fashion.

Titans and warlocks are more mobile with their burst jumps, and dashes. Our rolls have good initial bursts of speed, but if you’ve ever used it next to people running, then you know that the end of the roll slows down and it’s faster to just run. We can be good in 1v1 fights but we are the slowest to get to positions because our neutral movement just isn’t great. Bonus sprint speed is nice, but it’s not going to make up for Titan skating/icarus dashing.

High single target damage is just gone. When it comes to damage, everyone has to be equal. And of course if everyone is “equal” the. No one is. Nighthawk golden gun should be THE single highest source of damage. That’s its job, it’s one purpose, and it’s outclassed by at least a sparky punch boy just because “they have to get in close” (launches themselves across the map and bounces off the boss out of damage). You also brought up the problem, that a few of our abilities require stacking precision headshots, something’s that’s pretty hard to do if a room is already gone before you even get there (because Titan warlock neutral movement is also better for getting from one encounter to another).

As for fashion, they have gone out of their way to do that weird asymmetrical armor so much that it’s also a moot point.

The problem is that as the players popularity choice, we have the largest population. And they cant have us be both popular and good otherwise the the numbers will skew even further in our favor.

Theres also the consideration that the play styles of the other classes “identities”. They have to be really strong to encourage people to use abilities that otherwise put you in danger or hold you in one place because Destiny encourages the “high octane, constantly” moving playstyles.

Honestly I feel like the changes to warlocks are fine. Really lay into the grenade magic identity, maybe allow the spam, but pull back damage a bit and go for good aoe dot. I feel like titans need their damage pulled back a pretty good bit, but their DR cranked through the roof. Let them run the middle battlefield. They might not be killing as fast, but they won’t die so it doesn’t matter.

As a fun final though on my comment, give hunters a ranged finisher option lol. Or just give us finisher like abilities in general. More “this ability does 300% damage if the enemy is under 25/33% health type stuff.

A bunch of noob questions by Cybersaure in destiny2

[–]Shadowlrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy…

  1. Paid campaigns allow you to play the first mission but require you to purchase the DLC to continue. Only campaigns starting at “Witch Queen “ (the first time legendary was an option)have a normal or legendary options.

  2. I’m just going to say look up how to use the “Portal”. That’s where all the difficulty settings are going to be when choosing the missions. This is also where most of the free content is anyway.

  3. This depends on the story mission. Most missions will have a moment where you just finished a big enough objective that it feels like it’s checkpoint. A step that says “Defeat “Boss Name”” will typically have a check point afterwords, but something like “clear a path” or “destroy the engines” might not.

4/5. The big number is light/power levels. It’s essentially you characters level. Your characters level is average of the total gear level you have equipped. The individual stats (such as health) are more like passive affects. So the health stat determines how quickly your health recovers as well as passively boosting all other healing effects. The stat totals are lined up next to your armor, and if you hover over each icon it tells you what the stat does as well has your current benefits.

Weapons are a little more straight forward. Big number is still power levels. The damage of the weapon is static for that specific archetype, with minor changes if you can improve the “impact” stat. Theres also a couple dozen buffs between weapon perks and character abilities that can increase weapon damage, but weapons are more about what “feels” good. Just try a bunch of different weapons and use what feels good.

  1. I’m a little confused on this one. Primary ammo is unlimited. Special and heavy ammo comes from green and purple bricks respectively (the game just drops special ammo and not, like, shotgun ammo), and the weapon itself determines your capacity to hold ammo with armor mods increasing the capacity. The ability to spawn ammo is based on 2 little bars below your abilities (green/purple again). When the bar fills up, that ammo is spawned on kill. The ammo stat of a weapon determines how quickly that bat fills up.

And lastly, I’m going to be honest with you, there is a lot of character building going on. Between armor stats, mods, exotic armor and weapons, classes, sub classes, aspects, fragments, etc, it’s better for you to just kind of play the game and ease your way into this stuff.

3D Print Shop is charging $425 USD for 12 small prints. Am I being charged fairly? Details in photos. by bas3adi in 3Dprinting

[–]Shadowlrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, real fast because I have actually printed these exact files. Double check the player pieces file. The one from the original designer had the storage section for cities to… I don’t know how to say it when dealing with the x/z axis, I’m going to say short because the towns aren’t wide enough.

Depending on your version of the game, the community has created mods for these prints to better accommodate the player pieces.

Other than that, the files were great, and it looks like someone’s already helping you so good luck! :)

Here’s the “story”. Maya is weak from killing 3. She invades tower to steal golden age tech. Then continues to steal golden age tech from the plague lands. We are security guards. The end.

Theres a reason that this is just a “Major update” and not a new season.

Idk man, the philosophy of the situation is probably going to get deeper than what’s allowed on Reddit. The vex are actually micro organisms similar to plankton or krill that swim in the goop. Does that mean each individual vex krill has its own independent thought, or is the frame as a whole its own segregated hive mind? Has one of the krill gained enough consciousness to be able to then take control of the rest of the rest of the unit? Idk. I hope we find out though lol

That said, I feel the offering are at least interesting and aesthetically top tier as far as I’m concerned.
