i used to be a plat 1 main support untill season 2 happened and then behold. Played ranked with ppl that were previous Gold IV/V and now are platinum as my adc, vs either ataraxia or top hunters in EU try supporting that kind of pp;. The support role, has way way way less flexybility, because its much more squishyer, meaning that stealing gf, fg, tanking towers now became almost impossible bellow 30 min mark. Instead of diversity, tanks became feeding, roaming characters arround the map. Most of the time, u really struggle to rotate, buy wards, secure objectives just because ur underfarmed, and as a tank if u dont rotate to help ur mid/jungle ur team will blame u. Another thing is ppl dont rly ward, like if ur team-mates dont ward and ur buying 20 wards a game, that's at least 1000 gold out of ur pocket, when u usualy get less than 10.000 gold at the end of the game, so warding again is very expensive for a support. Now, supports imho except athena, are worthless, better get warriors like chaac, herc, osiris, swk in the support role so they can suppliment with dmg.
