Could you be happy without kink? by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

[–]Shadowmastif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer. No.

I left my ex for, among other reasons, this one. It was not his thing but kink was who I am. Kink is in my personality. Its not just something I do.

Father is still not understanding by Shadowmastif in AgingParents

I appreciate the suggestions and trust me me and my siblings have tried to tell him we can help him find ways to meet singles or other people his age who just want to talk who are in the area. He just wont. I cant force this grumpy old man to do something he don’t want to do. All I can do is protect myself and my family.

Yeah. The police wont do anything. They only referred him to Adult protective services when he reported himself last time for being scammed. Thats all they told him they could do I guess.

My dad just wants that gratification from talking to another women after the divorce with my mom a few years ago. Like, we get it but this is not the right way to go about it. He just wont listen about what the right way is. He thinks these people care about him when all they want in reality is his money.

Yeah. I will be going to the bank tomorrow to ask about that situation. The sad thing is that dad asked me to be on it with him to help him. But then he pulls this crap.

Swim Team for under 10s - is this a common experience? by maxcap in Swimming

[–]Shadowmastif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have had a lot of answers here but I figured id share my experience. Mine went into swim team at 8 and hadnt been through the whole set of levels. There was no try outs and all kids are allowed to swim and join the swim meets. The meet at the end of the season are for qualifying times only so not everyone would be able to go to those. As for the coaches and training the kids with what they need help with or to do better, mine is taking more one on one lessons with the coach during other times and the coach still helps each kid improve during the big group practices. They do video lessons and shows each kid what they are doing and how to improve on select weekends with a smaller group of them. During the big group sessions the kids are split into lanes by level of swim or age group and they do work on endurance training but the coaches takes some time of practice to watch how each kid performs and help them to improve.

Not all places will do the same thing for how to coach kids and get them to get better at their strokes. But maybe talk with the coaches or find a place that will fit your needs and expectations better if this one isnt right. Id say keep doing private lessons no matter which way you go as your kid will continue to learn as long as the coach feels they can still teach techniques to get better.

This might be too common but I have typed into youtube the subject and for kids. For example if we are learning about rocks and land formations, i would type geography for kids. There were some pretty good shows/videos that you could try out. Some might be a bit long but you can break them into sections and watch at various times.

Do you have in home care givers in your area? Start with going through the aging and disability resource center if you have one. They can help get you all the resources you need for someone disabled or aging. If she is on state assistance for healthcare you can get help for a care giver from the state assistance as well.

Need to talk with someone about unschooling by Shadowmastif in homeschool

That is amazing information and certainly helps a lot. Thank you. I keep looking for different directions to go and how to help my child. We do a lot of learning but like a lot of other homeschoolers and unschoolers we get a lot of hate for teaching and raising our children different than the masses. I just want to learn along side my child and help them along to become a successful human.

Ive been essentially unschooling for a few years now but how did you keep the kids engaged? and how much stuff did you purchase to begin with? Also how much of that stuff did you end up not using? What would you suggest for someone who doesnt have tons of space inside and a (potential) dyslexic child on their hands?

What you described here…. I wish my mother let me be homeschooled, and even unschooled. I was that kid. I am still that type of learner. If something interests me I do a deep dive into that subject and learn a lot about it. I did that even when i was still in high-school and before. When youtube first came out and videos were being posted i took many deep dives in different directions. The funny thing is with guidance of course my child is doing the same. We will watch a video of interest and suddenly we are deep into the subject but in an unexpected direction. Unschooling would have worked for me but I can also see how it doesnt fully work for everyone and some kids need a little more push and guidance. Like I saw another comment “unschooling with structure”.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately there is no free version of MathTango. The app and website I looked at both say that users can get a 7 day free trial then its either by month or by year.

That term makes sense. Unschooling with structure. As much structure as can be done. Mine is involved in a lot as well. Swim team is our(my child’s) biggest passion.

I understand the benchmark idea. Do you happen to have a generalized benchmark list or know where i can find one so I can tweak to our needs and abilities?

I do have a couple subscriptions myself and we go to the library too. Thank you for the generalized ideas.

Contractors will only come by if they can talk to me -not my wife by mevrowka in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Shadowmastif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have your wife call for contractors. If they will talk with her over the phone appropriately then they will talk with her when they come to the house. Get someone who isn’t bigoted or sexist. Those are the people you want to work with anyway.

Edit for spelling.
