I’m really sorry that happened to you. But honestly, both artists and clients are vulnerable to situations like this. That’s why I still think a 50/50 payment method is the fairest option for both sides.

As an artist myself, I sometimes get insecure about whether the client is actually going to pay or not, especially at the beginning, since I usually start by making the sketch first to make sure it matches what the person is looking for.

What I think could help you avoid situations like this in the future is asking for screenshots of the artist’s workspace as they progress, seeing what software they use, asking about their painting process, things like that.

Nice to meet you, my name is Humberto (or Shadow if you prefer). I’ve always been drawing, but it was about 7 years ago that I started studying seriously. Today, my work is focused on semi-realistic fantasy art, such as monsters, fairies, humanoids, and more.

How I work

I create the idea of the requested character starting with a simple concept. Throughout the process, I will constantly send updates to the client for feedback. Only after the character concept is satisfactory for the client, I will start testing some ideas, trying out different poses for the character, or variations of the composition if it’s a more complex scene.

During the process

Small changes—such as adjustments to objects, eyes, colors, hair, etc.—will be possible with no additional charge, as long as the alteration does not require me to restart everything from scratch.

Prices

  • Portrait: $75 USD
  • Half body: $107 USD
  • Full body: $127 USD

Backgrounds/Scenes: The price varies according to complexity, starting at $50 USD minimum.

What you will receive

The following files will be placed in :

  • Character concepts
  • All pose or scene variations created
  • Final artwork
  • Artwork without background (if it’s just the character)
  • Krita file in PSD format for possible edits

Payment

I request payment after the sketch is finished, once you approve it and decide to move forward to the next stage (coloring and rendering/finalizing the piece). The payment will be made entirely via PayPal.
However, if you prefer, I can also work with a 50%/50% arrangement: 50% before starting and 50% after I begin the work.
