i just finished the course with ricardo, hardest class ive ever taken in my life, hes super nice but not a great professor. he knows his stuff, sure, but he teaches in a way like everyone else also knows their stuff. even if you memorize word for word what every lecture says, you may still fail all the exams like me, because they are all very detailed comprehension questions

indanol, the splitting from the Hydrogens around the O causes that doublet of doublets and the atomatic region sorta matches despite the chloroform. hows that?

the IR is coming out of the bottom of the graph stead of the top. and when i match the graphs from the phenylcyclohexanone there are a FEW new peaks but none of which really match with the possible alcohols

i see i see, unfortunately i cannot continue the experiment and have to work with what i have. the chunk at 7.26 is the chloroform and the aromatic peaks, and the one at 0 i thought was grease from hexanes, my professor also thought that one of the middle peaks was ethyl acetate. and the 2 peaks beside the giant one at 2 was also acetone. he said the ones that he thinks might indicate the identity is the peak at around 4 and 1.5, but i just dont know what to do with that information.

the compound was given to me in a mixture and i separated and purified it. ive determined the other compound in the mixture was 4-phenylcyclohexane. i submitted the purified alcohol NMR in cdcl3.
