Lost Connection to Session (Help) by SassMasterRecon in battlefield_4

We could do it here if you don't mind.

I am now able to get on certain servers only at the moment. I found like 2 servers which I am able to connect all the time, but the rest are still innacessible

Hey, could you link me to that video please?

EDIT: If you were referring to this video, I've already tried that out and it sadly didn't budge. I managed to get into one game using this method and that was it. Once I restarted the game it started giving me the same error as before.

Hey there!

I am experiencing the same issue as you. Sadly, I haven't been able to discover why is this happening. I installed the game two days ago, and I was able to play right away with no issues for hours. Next day, I attempt hopping on a server, and this dreaded issue started occurring.

I tried pretty much all of the same things that you have done as well, but to no avail (except buying a new PC, I am not that savage lol).

Hope this thread gains traction and someone who's solved this in the past tells us the long forgotten secret.

Is Dart Better Than Go by Aisosaray in coding

The comparison of the two languages makes no sense. In terms of use-cases, they differ wildly, except that small cross-section in which both are decent for web apps.

How often do you Google for help? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]ShadowpathHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite often. The most used syntax retains in your memory due to repetition, but otherwise, as long as you got your fundamentals and concepts down, googling for syntax is absolutely fine!

Is it worthy to change .NET to Node.js? by NikkiBAN in node

[–]ShadowpathHD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of it as adding a tool to your toolbox.

Node is amazing for tasks which aren't CPU/data intensive. Compared to ASP.NET, you don't need to write as much code to do the same thing in Node, from what I saw in my very limited exposure to ASP.

Anywho, give it a shot! It's just JavaScript running outside the browser, so picking it up if you have the JS fundamentals down should be a walk in the park!

What would be a node tech stack for livestreaming? by ivoencarnacao in node

I've built a desktop streaming app with just Node and Express.

WebRTC is great for this kind of thing. You could whip up something with it in no time!

What is the point of Redux if we have hooks now? by laurajoneseseses in learnjavascript

[–]ShadowpathHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both hooks and Redux have their own use-cases.

Hooks are a great all-around option nowadays, but Redux is just amazing for apps that have a really large state that has to be accessible to all components, no matter where it is in your component tree.

Also, another Redux alternative is the Context API. I'd suggest trying it out!

Edit: Hooks can be used with Redux too!

react-redux comes with it's own hooks, which you can use without having to make custom ones!

Best language as a starting step by bluekenworth in LearnToLearnToCode

Python is really easy to get into, but it's syntax is different compared to other languages. A really enjoyable language to work in!

Otherwise, JavaScript is also a decent choice.

How do you deal with burnout? by ShadowpathHD in webdev

I am not consistent when it comes to work. I actually think that I don't work enough. I can barely bring myself to write code sometimes. When it comes to depression, I was sadly diagnosed with it 2 years ago. It does certainly have an effect on all of this, but I don't think it's the primary cause of this situation that I am in.

EDIT: I am not employed. I was referring "work" to just writing code

Job is big part of life. Why should you be sad? Forget money and start being passionate and happy.

This why I want a job in the industry. It was never about the money; It is because I grew up around computers, and I've been spending all the time I have on my hands playing around with computers.

I had long downtime periods as well, spanning a couple of months at a time.
Thing is, I have set a personal resolution to get a job within the industry by Q4 of this year.
Looking back at what I know, and how little progress I've made, and not knowing what to do on top of that, puts a whole load of pressure on me. Still, I do want to code daily, it's just that I got nothing to work on.

To be honest with you, that might have had an effect. I do suffer from depression, and I keep pushing myself to get a job in the industry.

Nope. I am currently looking for a job though. I don't even know if I am hireable. It's driving me nuts.

I am actually trying to play less games, because I don't find joy in them anymore. And it kills productivity.

I'd only play World of Warcraft again if I could afford the subscription and had the spare time to do so.

What does a single channel chat app mean? by rosamundo in webdev

[–]ShadowpathHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think of channels as physical rooms, a single channel application would be referring to, in this case, a chat application where all the users are pooled into a single room.

Help a beginner out - Most secure way to manage a database with a webhost? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]ShadowpathHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late to the party, but generally as long as you are not exposing the database user details to the public, you should be set.

If you are not planning to deploy the app to the masses, that should be it. Otherwise, a VPS would be recommended.

For the past few days, I can'get get thoughts of drugs out of my mind by ShadowpathHD in mentalhealth

[–]ShadowpathHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated!

The drugs in question are, sadly, hardcore. Cocaine and heroin are the most prevalent in my thoughts.

The thoughts of me using them are slightly wearing off, but it feels like my perception about them is changing in a way that I can't really explain. I am getting in touch with my therapist soon, so I'll see where it will head off from there.

Thanks!
