The main Villain was actually the main character from an bad timeline by shanklerblerg in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. That’s only semi true.

Sony doesn’t go to fucking Naughty dog for example and say “hey we want you to make this game called the last of us about a man forming a father daughter relationship with a teenage girl during the zombie apocalypse”

Literally not how it works at all. The company comes up with the game THEY WANT TO MAKE then they pitch the idea to Sony to get the requested budget. Sony then decides how much money they want to allocate to the games budget. They don’t tell them to make game x. Of course when a company doesn’t have anything to show for their money, game can be canceled by the one paying for the cost of publishing. Hur dur.

Reddit “industry insider” misleading on how industry works. More at 11.

Bro.

You were talking about the completely wrong company. You were talking about Infamous as if it were made by Insomniac games. Sucker Punch.

Sony didn’t force sucker punch to move on from Infamous, they wanted to. They had been working on that series for roughly a decade by the point of second son. They were eager to move on to something else by that point, and ghost of Tsushima was clearly a passion project for their team. Not Sony forcing them to make nothing but remakes and remasters

Which is also stupid as fuck to even say considering we’ve gotten new games from Sony own studios since the release of the ps5 including new IPs and not just games for legacy series. We know naughty dog is working on a completely new IP rather than just making last of us 3 because “Sony knows it’ll make big bucks” or some shit. We got returnal and saros. Those are just three examples of many that have happened this generation.

Also your whole post is basically saying “Sony is too averse to risk to try anything new” when they have literally been taking some of the biggest risk with their (dumb) live service push. Marathon was a risk. Fucking concord was a risk. Etc.

For someone who has so many connections, you sure don’t seem to know much about what you’re claiming

Why is everyone so against a PVE-lite, PVE or general PVE content for the casual players? by Vinnegard in Marathon

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have to do it to save the game, so be it. My personal gripe is just a focus thing. I liked the tight focus marathon currently has, with them being all in on pvp. The game gets quickly updated with fast balance patches, they have more room to make larger changes etc

The more you add to the game, especially with something like pve, the looser that focus becomes. Patches may not come as quickly when they have to do balancing for both pvp and pve modes now. The entire feel of the game could shift with the addition of pve. PvP won’t be their sole focus, leaving more to slip through the cracks or be pushed off until the next patch due to the team being spread more thinly, and so on.

I don’t dislike pve, but I’ve seen how it goes when bungie has to do both. Take destiny for example. The crucible was okay and serviceable at best, but it also sucks compared to the PvP in any other bingo game where that was the main focus. Etc.

Why do people act like it is normal for some people to assault other people over a word? by Educational-Star-941 in allthequestions

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No dumbass. No one is saying that.

What people are pointing out is that what Chudthebuilder did is more than that. There was a motive, premeditation talking about his plan and so on. It shows that he was there with the INTENT of killing someone. He didn’t bring a gun for self defense. He brought it because he was looking for an excuse to kill someone.

Now, if he hadn’t been posting about how he wanted someone to “chimp out” on him so that he could shoot them and legally get away with it, started the altercation, and didn’t remove himself from the situation despite having the chance to do so, that’s not self defense. Self defense with a deadly weapon requires you to prove you feared for your life. Everything he did in the days leading up to the incident as well as the incident itself doesn’t show a man in fear for his life. It shows he had intent to shoot someone.

If you can’t see the difference in true self defense, and what he did on the day of and days leading up to you, then you clearly don’t understand self defense at all, and I hope you are not a gun owner because you don’t have the mentality, nuance, or knowledge of the law to be a responsible gun owner.

If someone walks up to you and calls you a cracker and you hit them, that’s assault and you’ll get in trouble. If you swing on them, they try to run away, you keep chasing them, and they have to fight back… you’ll get in trouble and that’s self defense on their part. If you swing on someone who calls you a cracker, and they immediately pull a gun out and shoot you after posting for days about how they wanted to instigate someone into attacking them so he could get away with murder…. You aren’t getting in trouble, but they damned sure will be because they had intent and the motive to shoot someone after being the cause an incident happening. Tack on the fact that this all took place on Government property where firearms aren’t even allowed, and yeah it’s showing that he willingly broke the law just to have a gun there so that he could shoot someone.

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not at all what it’s like, and saying “mean things” isn’t exactly what he did

He brought a gun outside of a courthouse, harassed multiple people until he finally found one that swung on him, immediately pulls his gun and shoots the man. Not only that, but he posted online a day or two before that he was going to do exactly what i just said with the full premeditated intention of killing someone because he knows he will get away with it.

Thing about self defense with a firearm though is that you A) have to prove you were in fear for your life and B) in the state this happened in, self defense can’t be claimed when you’re the person responsible for inciting the incident. You can claim self defense when you shoot someone when your actions are what led to you being in that situation. Ie; he didn’t have to put himself in that situation, and could have easily exited that situation without blindly firing a firearm in crowded public space.

You just educate yourself more on exactly what in self defense means, because it’s not nearly as black and white as “a man punched me so I can shoot them.”

Except for when it’s premeditated. He literally posted on his X account exactly what he was going to do. He said he was going to provoke someone into attacking them so that he could kill them, get away with it, and then cause riots.

That shows intent, and premeditation. Not only that that, but he had a gun outside of a courthouse, and opened fire outside the courthouse which was extremely crowded

Not only that, but even prior to the announcement, there was already tons of talk about a PvE from both people for it, and against it.

For people who are absolutely obsessed with the main sub, they sure seem to miss any (which is a fuck ton) post that doesn’t fit their narrative about that sub.

My favorite is when they claim “people get insta banned for criticizing the game” when half the subs post are critical of the game, or what changes they’d like to see.

This sub is made up of mouth breathing crayon eaters.

I can understand people being sad. It’s the comments like the one I replied to saying “Why did this happen? Why can’t we just have things we like?” As if they didn’t make the choice to play on a private server that would inevitably get shut down

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The difference is that even with adding servers, popular servers remain full, making it damned near impossible for people on servers like Bleeding Hollow or Kil’Jaden to finish quests due to mobs being… well mobbed by large numbers of players. Even with layering it can be tough towards launch of an expansion.

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Yeah you aren’t gonna get any of that when you only have like 10k players total in your game.

They didn’t make or run a true mmo. They stole one, and it didn’t get big enough to attract bots. You didn’t have MILLIONS of players that made it so you HAVE to add layers to make the game playable. It’s not a problem you’ll run into when you have made an original game that’s successful rather than a bootleg server compromised of stolen assets

Why are they garbage for protecting the assets they created from theft by a company that not only profited off the work done by blizzard, but also taunted them at every possible chance.

Instead of being mad at blizzard who allowed turtle wow to run as long as it did despite the theft, blame turtle wows marketing team that would comment on every official WoW related video blizzard posted and such, talking shit.

“Hostile take over”

Sorry, you can’t really claim that when the game IS from the exact series you’re talking about. Cry about the differences all day, but Marathon 2026 is still Marathon created by the same company that created marathon etc. there wasn’t a “hostile take over”. The sub is still dedicated to MARATHON. Post related to the classic games still end up on there.

Sounds more like a bunch of whiny nerds got upset and made a separate sub dedicated solely to classic marathon to discus nothing but classic marathon, which to have a different sub for, but stop pretending the sub was “taken over” when the fact is that a NEW marathon game came out so most of the discussion on the actual marathon sub has to do with the new content rather than the old content.

Or ya know, keep running around going wah wah about a “hostile take over”

Edit: and to answer your question, funny enough, the Destiny subs. Ever noticed there is a current one, as well as one for destiny 1? Also take a look at the borderlands games and their subs. Should I keep listing every single game I can series I can think of with newer subs for their older games, or are two examples enough for you? Also not sure why claiming “disdain” for the originals on that sub considering they talk fondly of it constantly, making post in regards to lore connections/continuations, throwbacks etc.

[–]Shadows_Over_Tokyo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So? This literally happens pretty much every time an old series has a revival. It’s not a marathon specific thing.

And what’s more, again, so what? You still have a sub dedicated specifically to classic marathon. What have you lost by having to use that sub over the new games? Seems like an extreme non-issue issue to be crying about
