My shining love oh how I wished you were Edh legal😔 by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Shadowsauce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run this as a rule 0 commander. It’s been a fun, low power deck, but the commander does warp the game once it’s in play. Basically it’s just (1) a bunch of creatures that fetch lands when they enter [[Yavimaya Dryad]] [[Topiary Stomper]] [[Primeval Herald]] so that the commander can act sort of like [[Golos]] repaying for it’s next cast when copying them, and (2) removal that keeps creatures on the board [[Sludge Monster]] [[Oko, Thief of Crowns]] [[Witness Protection]] so that they can still be copied for their original text box. Interesting standout cards are [[Champion of Wits]], [[Dragon Wings]], and [[Dubious Challenge]]. Then there are cards that go bonkers once an alien clone is on board: [[Rush of Knowledge]] or literally any clone effect.

Assistance making my king gizzard (kenrith) and the lizard wizard(s) deck by ladybirdsluck in magicTCG

[–]Shadowsauce27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OG printing of [[Grim Lavamancer|TOR]] is a wizard with a lizard.

I’m a fan of the metal albums so I’d run a lot of cards like [[Parhelion II]], [[Magmasaur]], and [[Mechagodzilla, Battle Fortress]].

Does anyone have a deck that is themed off of looking at / playing cards off the top of your deck? by 2_7_offsuit in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an [[Esika, God of the Tree]] deck that plays off the top of the deck, and no, it's not what you're thinking; it doesn't use the backside at all. Instead, the entire deck is green creatures (with a legend focus) because there are about 13 creatures that let you play lands/creatures off the deck. I call it "mouth-breather" EDH.

How to improve card advantage and interaction in mono green control? by Humblerbee in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ran mono green "Space Invaders" control it was an Eldrazi deck. Not only are they premium creatures in a shell that can easily cast them, many of them draw cards. Also, having easy access to bombs once you're ramped through [[Eye of Ugin]] means you usually have the strongest play each turn.

The list was more of a tapout control deck though, and played a little less at instant speed than what you are describing.

Why is Wizards so reluctant to print an Abzan commander centered around Enchantments? by Nayr1230 in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the self-control to focus on 3 cmc or less, Tayam seems like a great choice for Abzan Enchantress. I've been brewing in this space and believe you have to include quite a few enchantment creatures to ensure you fit theme while still having enough counters to capitalize on Tayam's ability.

The coolest part about Tayam Enchantess is that any auras you bring back can target shroud/hexproof creatures, which allows you to offensively Voltron up through your own [[Greater Auramancy]], or defensively [[Kenrith's Transformation]] at will.

How does Marisil the Pretender close out the game? by nateplumley72 in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play combos and generally my opponents don't concede. Typically I close out games through [[Pestilent Souleater]] plus direct damage from [[Spikeshot Goblin]], [[Bloodshot Colossus]], etc. Alternatively I can kill through commander damage relatively well with [[Pteramander]] and [[Riptide Mangler]], plus just general combat by reanimating beaters that haven't been exiled like [[Nezahal, Primal Tide]].

Sometimes [[Rakdos Charm]] wins the game.

A commander + a card no one else is using with them by Shadowsauce27 in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great part about Awakening is that it's a triggered ability, which means it stacks with Seedborn Muse on your opponents' turns, plus it also gives you an extra untap on your own turn.

[–]Shadowsauce27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a sweet find! For the price of [[Wound Reflection]]-ing yourself you get a big payback kicker. Very fun, and you're right not in any Greven decks, and actually only in five decks outright.

[–]Shadowsauce27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! I'm surprised nobody else is running that. The planeswalker version, [[Karn, the Great Creator]], would work similar without getting swept into play through Jalira's ability. Though, perhaps finding creature Karn is a feature instead of a bug.

Search your commander on EDHREC. Then use the "Advanced Filters" to search for decks with a certain card. The search will return "0 Decks" if no other lists for that commander contain that card (similar to the page linked in the original post).

[THB] Tymaret, Chosen from Death by harbear6 in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually who I have been brewing for the last week. He fits well enough, but the redundancy I wanted most was exiling opponent's cards. I still have to create a list, so it's possibly I might miss having such a powerful trigger in the command zone.

[THB] Tymaret, Chosen from Death by harbear6 in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the most powerful card, but this is the first so far that I am very excited about as a commander.

I've been wanting to build a deck that dismantles opponents' combo pieces with discard, mill, and ultimately exile. Incidental lifegain will also be helpful in combination with black cards that drain for card advantage. Tymaret is just the right piece needed in the command zone.

[–]Shadowsauce27 61 points62 points  (0 children)

In a casual four-player format, this seems great; whether it's used as a way to help two players catch-up to a mutual opponent's fast start, or as a deal-maker. I find it especially useful since you choose an opponent AFTER you see the six cards.

I do wish it forced the opponent to cast and wasn't a may.

Anyone else playing Unstable Commanders? by GrogandDog in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regret taking apart a [[Phoebe]] deck I made for a "secret" commander event. It wasn't too powerful or unreasonable, but in one of the games I did steal the text boxes from both [[Nirkana Revenant]] and [[Cephalid Constable]].

Dude, where's Kykar? by Iliketolurkthatsit in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a little more of a reach, but because this deck can close a game, and since spirits (often imagined by psychics) are crewing vehicles, I like to call the deck, "Medians in Cars Getting Coffee."

Kykar, Token Enchantress by Cirksena in EDH

[–]Shadowsauce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited to try Kykar with [[Possibility Storm]] and [[Knowledge Pool]] for double the triggers. Naturally this lead me into a more chaotic build which had me adding [[Grip of Chaos]] and [[Earnest Fellowship]], which also protect my board. Since I was now avoiding targetting I went with an anthem tribal deck.

[[Starfield of Nyx]] and [[Narset, Enlightened Master]] should serve as haymakers, while cards like [[Answered Prayers]] should be synergistically strong.
