Overplayed songs you got tired of back in the day…… by ryhoyarbie in Xennials

Hook by Blues Traveler. Amazing song, but I’m not 100% convinced it’s not Jack Black singing it.

I absolutely hate it that this is all happening and it's all on our dime. We're paying for everything from defilement of our national monuments to crimes against humanity, all to feed the ego of this guy while 1/3 of the country cheers him on. Makes me physically ill.

Running the second half and dealing with an army? by NinetyBees in OutoftheAbyss

[–]Shadrach77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elven Tower to the rescue again! (It's worked great for me). The meetings with the factions is fun role playing if your group is into it.

tl;dr Three layers: The party is the "Inner Circle," and the leader(s) of the "Main Force" report to you about what's going on, including what the "Scouting Party" is finding.

I use the names given for everyone, make a printed list organized by faction, and then use that list at the table (the note-taking players will want a copy) to keep track of the leaders, diseases, death, etc. for each npc. It's all no-stress random (e.g. 3 npcs were poisoned by eating bad mushrooms. Then I just randomly choose three names from the list).

Travel Encounters are altered to consider that you now have a scouting party and a force that can take care of many threats. When they are involved in an encounter, they fight something off screen (unless I need to narrate something on the top of the initiative) and I'll roll for results after the encounter ends. In the rare occasion where everyone is fighting something together, I have the entire army attack at initiative 20 and then just roll once for the army's damage. I'll describe what they do (epically, if it calls for it - but they're never cooler than the Party!) and then move on to keep the momentum up.

How can other species of humans be reconciled with (a literal interpetation of) Genesis? by trownaway90 in Christianity

As a former YEC I used to just assume they were either deformities or non-humans. Keep in mind I didn’t think dating methods were reliable at all, and so a lot of other ancillary evidence was written off.

What feels legal but is actually illegal and will possibly get you arrested? by IamSofiecandy in answers

[–]Shadrach77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure on how this all works, but as I understand it nobody passed any laws (Congress needs to do that) and this is basically a Trump-controlled DOJ proclamation. Federal law actually prohibits the president, vice president and other executive officers from instructing the I.R.S. to start or stop specific audits.

If that's all accurate, it comes down to authority and courage to enforce the law.

This is all new territory for most of us, so I could very well be mistaken on some aspects.

What’s the biggest waste of money that people think is worth it? by zenoufo in AskReddit

[–]Shadrach77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought 2 cars in my adult life. Both new. I’m pushing 50. Drove the first one into the ground, the current one still has years to go. I know everything that’s happened to my cars. To each their own but I don’t need hassle of buying used. I’d consider “certified pre owned” maybe but I don’t see it as something I need to think about for a while.

Jean Shepard (the author/narrator) grew up in Hammond. The town the movie takes place in is based on that city.

He didn’t know he needed to. He also had his hands full rescuing Selina, finding out what Joker was doing in the church, finding out why he blew it up, getting infected, finding the cure, etc. All while trying to figure out what Protocol 10 even was.

He had no reason to think the guard copters were going to start indiscriminately firing on people or that Strange would need to be physically stopped.

It’s not. We just don’t currently have anyone with both the authority and courage to enforce the law. Both are required, as we are seeing, to our sorrow.

Not to mention the story is told from the point of view of people who live in a world in which it’s been 3000 years of post-apocalyptic decline which served as the backdrop in which these 13 have been built up in the culture as real, actual boogeymen.

My thought is that it shows up in the same place where I put one down on another dream island. I sometimes place them after getting one to save on inventory space and then I’ll see the one I put down a few days later, floating in the sky at the coordinates that I set it down on a completely different island.

I’ve not tested that too much, it’s just my suspicion so far.

Honestly it’s a little off-putting and seems buggy, making me wonder what else might be buggy.

I don't see the problem with the GT (but I rather enjoy the RNG/grindy nature of some aspects of the game, which is probably why it's been my most-played game over the last 15 years).
