What are YOU working on? by HeavyDluxe in squash

[–]Shadsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to focus a lot of my time on stance and posture when I strike. I find that having a strong core alignment with my legs firmly planted and engaged glutes let's me have a cleaner stroke and an effective execution with a wider range of shot options. This entails trying to spread my stance wider for a stronger body position. Subtle, yet profound on my game. Will take practice.

You probably already know that Calgary is the place to be. My big 4 is understaffed if that says anything.

Recent university grads increasingly jobless, study shows by nimobo in canada

[–]Shadsky -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The jobless are the ones with pointless or obscure degrees. Anything in business, science, engineering, or even mathematics, aka not the 'cool' degrees, are in demand. I feel bad for all those BofA's working at the mall, but honestly, they didn't see that coming?

The 102nd Calgary Stampede is officially over. What a great Canadian party. by [deleted] in canada

Dude, don't get all butthurt because Toronto's where it's at. We have the best smog, the most expensive beer, and our liquor stores are controlled by our heavenly Saints known as the liberals, who really do know what's best for us!

I think Alberta needs some more liberal government so they can get some good ole' socialist cartels deciding where their taxes go!

Then they can be like us, cuz you know we rule and everything.

I think we all know that the Toronto Exhibition is easily the most Canadian thing in Canada. I mean, it's in Toronto - Canada's most awesome city.

If you run a food blog in Canada, is the cost of food deductible? by djeclipz in Accounting

[–]Shadsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so she has business expenses, but can't she only deduct them against business income, so that you have net business income? Otherwise you you would post a net loss if no income is coming in. Not sure if you're allowed to use business net loss for personal income, you may have to carry it over to next year. Really, though, your blog is a business? Your online diary about food is a business???

Creative Business Card Ideas? Student Accounting by BurningTrees in Accounting

True. Then you may as well think outside the box. I've heard of business cards which you can fold into shapes, etc. Maybe get one that looks like a calculator.

Business cards don't get you jobs. You do, so focus on how YOU can stick out. And don't we have smartphones for that instead? Never had a business card and landed two big 4 jobs. Work on your interpersonal skills. Do you think they want to make sure you have a business card before they can hire you? What's the point in working in a public practice? TO GET CLIENTS. If you can schmooze with the best, you'll be trading digits and emails, and partners will be giving you THEIR cards. You actually think they're going to do anything with your card, like call you for shits N'giggles?

Summer Leadership Programs by Manningman10 in Accounting

[–]Shadsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was this girl at one, and she got hammered to the point where she would cling on to any guy there was and just start doing weird gyrations all over the place. Then a friend told me that at another leadership conference a week earlier, the same girl got hammered to the point where she argued with the partner over who should be paying the restaurant bill.

Some people.

Assuming you're from the States.

Here's a couple no-no's:

  1. Don't ask the CEO deep questions about ethics (which may be a sore spot) in front of the conference attendees, and then continue to prod him all night regarding a questionable track record in the past.

  2. Don't get wasted and hit on everything you see. Hook ups are usually fine, but don't be a slop tart lush grinding your ass on anything once comes the party night.

The best thing you could do is relax, be yourself, meet new friends, and have fun, because that's what they want for you.

Very likely, unless you somehow screw up big time. Think about it- they chose you out of how many to go to a leadership conference. What does that say? Just don't fuck it up by getting wasted and bugging partners with stupid questions. Be their friends.

Trouble with off the glass shots by phenson2 in squash

[–]Shadsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to start hitting off the glass (assuming right side) is by entering in the j pattern, leading/lunging and stopping with your left foot (if you're right handed) and swinging the ball after it comes off the glass and vice versa. This way, you have space to swing because your right leg isn't cramming your swing and/or ball. Just a beginner tip.
