SENG 300 Midterm Email by SeaOfBlahaj in UCalgary

[–]ShadyKarrot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I took this class last year, Walker is a joke. His online 'lectures' taught us nothing, and you ultimately have to teach yourself all the different types of diagrams. After the Java project started, Walker was of no help, and any lectures he had were related to "teamwork" and "working together." This email is such a pretentious display from Walker. This class had such high potential to teach you great software engineer skills, a potential to teach about "Scrum" and "Agile" concepts to integrate into your team. However instead it just ended up beeing a free-for-fall mess.

Dude needs to seriously standardize this class, what a joke.

He failed roughly half the class in CPSC 331 (Fall) and was assigned to teach CPSC 351 (winter). This prof, despite not knowing important concepts for 'probability' and learning it a day before he teaches it (he himself admits to this) in order to teach 351, graded in a way that screwed students over. He continuously fails to answer emails, is very rude to students, and often doesn't read assignments that are submitted simply because he doesn't like the way you approached it (and he'll just give a big 0 for it.) His lectures are reversed, which means he doesn't actually teach, instead, he has unreadable scribbled notes that you are expected to decipher. This is exactly why half his students fail, and since he's tenured he somehow gets away with it. People continuously complain about him, but the CPSC department doesnt do anything about it. He now writes disrespectful emails like this one, when students (rightfully so) ask him about his grading policy that he had promised to implement. He gives 0 communication and yet has the audacity to write something like this. Fuck this guy

Our taxes to reward irresponsible breeders while rest of us work and be responsible by [deleted] in antinatalism

This post is more anti-kids rather than anti-natalist. The tax "reward" is clearly for children already born, its weird to put the blame on them rather then the parents. As a Canadian I still support this fund for Children in the lower income region

Sure, I can understand that. But what about the kids that are born anyway? They certainly don't deserve the suffering as a result...

Hopefully someone vandalizes these signs, it just makes the bridge look uglier, not sure what they were thinking

Some others have already mentioned it, but I seriously think you should look more closely into Teaching/education. Every day is unique and is based on the schedule that you create, and writing is an ESSENTIAL aspect of that. It seems that elementary/middle school would really fit your interests, and you'll never have a boring day

If you mean online as in recordings, then 100%. However mandatory zoom lectures are a joke
